How to Open Locked Door at Mikatagahara Junction (Hamamatsu Hill) in Nioh 3
Enemy bases in Nioh 3 are typically easy to enter and raid, but there are some that require players to do some extra steps first. The one near the Mikatagahara Juncion Shrine at Hamamatsu Hill is a great example; not only is its front gates locked, but there’s really no way around it either. To enter this enemy base in Nioh 3, players will have to take a fairly long detour up north and help an NPC wrap up some business regarding her clan’s property.

How to Open the Enemy Base in Mikatagahara Junction in Nioh 3
- Speak with Ii Naotora at Hamamatsu Castle Keep
- Complete the Fated Land quest in Ryotan Temple to the north (Iinoya)
- Speak with Naotora again to get the Mountain Temple Key
To open this base, you need to get the Mountain Temple Key. This item is a reward from the Fated Land quest in Nioh 3, and to start that, you need to speak with Ii Naotora back at Hamamatsu Castle Keep (assuming you haven’t already).
The Fated Land quest will have you sweeping through a temple to the north belonging to the Ii clan, sweeping all the yokai there along the way. It’s a fairly straightforward quest set on a linear (yet somewhat confusing) map, and while there are plenty of enemies waiting for you inside, Naotora will be there to help you throughout the entire thing (though you can always bring friends to help too).
Once you finish the Fated Land quest, go back to Naotora at Hamamatsu Castle Keep, and she’ll ask you for another favor. This time it’s to clear the enemy base in Hamamatsu Hill. Before you go, she’ll give you the Mountain Temple Key, and with it, you can finally enter the base.
Clearing the Hamamatsu Hill Base in Nioh 3
There are 5 yokai in the base near Mikatagahara Junction, and most of them are skeletons that are just lying in wait. If you can’t see the skeletons, you can use the lootable items around the area to find them. The final enemy is a Ninja Yoki that appears over the patch of Spider Lily flowers near the middle of the temple.
After you beat all the yokai, go to the pagoda at the top of the temple grounds. Here, you’ll need to fight a samurai revenant. He’s fairly predictable, and so long as you don’t get too greedy with your attacks, you’ll be able to beat him easily.
Weapons in Nioh 3 have skills that either deal a lot of Ki damage, reposition yourself behind enemies, or crush through enemy defenses. Use those when fighting human enemies that block constantly, or use Ninjutsu and other elemental attacks that can go through blocks.
