Blizzard Entertainment has pulled back the curtain on all the exciting new changes coming to its popular hero shooter, Overwatch 2. Well, the first thing we should mention is that the game is no longer being called Overwatch 2 –the developers have confirmed that starting with the relaunch dropping on February 10th, it’s just going to be called Overwatch going forward. Instead of continuing with Season 21, it’ll start over with Season 1 this February. The year will end with Season 6, and once 2027 rolls around, we’ll get Season 1 again.

Overwatch 2 fans have the chance to get a free Epic Zarya hero skin and an Epic Loot box soon, but there’s some fine print they need to be aware of.

What’s New in Overwatch 2 Season 1?
The biggest and most important thing about the season 1 relaunch for Overwatch is that the team is adding not one, not two, not three, but five brand-new characters to the ever-growing roster (the team also plans to launch five more heroes before the year ends). Here are the five being added this month:
- Mizuki (Support) is a member of the Hashimoto clan.
- Jetpack Cat (Support) is an adorable kitty found as a stray in Gibraltar.
- Emre (Damage) is a former member of the Overwatch Strike Team.
- Domina (Tank) is the vice president of Vishkar Industries.
- Anran (Damage) is the sister of Wuyang and has the power of fire.
As far as other stuff coming as part of the relaunch this month, here’s what fans can look forward to!
-
New sub-roles to diversify the roster.
- Tank now has Bruiser, Initiator, and Stalwart
- Damage has Sharpshooter, Flanker, Specialist, and Recon
