Blood Leaf is a key crafting ingredient required for multiple important recipes in Hytale. Chiefly, Blood Leaves are a key ingredient for health potions, meaning players who want to stock up on them will want to acquire a large number of Blood Leaves.

Additionally, Blood Leaves are also one of the three plants that can be cut down to obtain Blood Petals, an ingredient required to upgrade the Farmer’s Workbench to Tier 9 and 10 in Hytale. Luckily, Blood Leaves are fairly abundant if you know where to look.

How to Get Blood Leaf in Hytale

Blood Leaf can be found in the marshes of Emerald Grove (Zone 1), in the snowy mountains of Whisperfrost Frontiers (Zone 3), and on certain landmarks in the Howling Sands (Zone 2) desert region in Hytale. These plants emit a bright red glow in the dark, making them easy to spot at night.

Emerald Grove

To find Blood Leaves in the Emerald Grove, look for dull-green colored patches of marshland covered with an abundance of large, light-green tree-tops similar to what is shown in the screenshot above. These marsh forests are comprised almost exclusively of Oak trees, with an occasional Ash tree mixed in. You’ll find a large number of Blood Leaves growing near the trees.

Some versions of marsh forests in the Emerald Grove only have Ash trees in them, represented by dark green-colored tree tops. You’ll find no Blood Leaves here.

Whisperfrost Frontiers

In the Whisperfrost Frontiers, Blood Leaves spawn in large quantities among the snow-covered Fir tree forests near the mountainous regions. The easiest way to find them is to climb up to a high vantage point and look down towards the forests.

In Whisperfrost Frontiers, Blood Leaves can only be found near the mountains. There are fir forests that can pop up in the plains as well, but no Blood Leaves will grow there.

Howling Sands

In the Howling Sands zone, Blood Leaves can sometimes be found growing on the large skeleton fossils that can be found scattered all over the desert. It is possible to identify the location of these structures from the map by looking for symmetrical, bone-white structures that stand out from the rest of the landscape.

Blood Leaf-bearing bone fossils are few and far between, and you’ll only find one or two Blood Leaves per location in most cases. For farming purposes, it is better to explore the Whisperfrost Frontiers or the Emerald Grove.

How to Unlock Blood Leaf Seed Recipe in Hytale

The Blood Leaf Seed recipe can be obtained by cutting down a Blood Leaf using a Pickaxe, Hatchet, or Shears in Hytale. Every time you do so, you’ll obtain a few pieces of Blood Petals and, in rare cases, a Blood Life Seed Recipe.

Once this recipe is in your hands, equip it in the hotbar and use the action button to learn it. Now, you’ll be able to craft a Blood Leaf Seed at a Farmer’s Workbench (Tier 10). Notably, a large number of Blood, Storm, and Azure Petals are required to upgrade a Farmer’s Workbench to this tier.
