City Layout Guide In Anno 117 Pax Romana
Buildings in Anno 117: Pax Romana have different ways to affect the surrounding buildings. Some depend on the building’s area of effect, while another measures the road distance between the affecting building and the affected building. For that, it’s important to know how to optimize the city layout. Here are some tips for Anno 117: Pax Romana buildings layout.
How To Plant Trees In Anno 117 Pax Romana
If Anno 117: Pax Romana players can’t find enough trees to place certain buildings, they can restore trees in other ways.
Save An Area For Houses
When players first land on the island, they should look around to see the best area for the houses. The area should be large so that it can host a lot of houses and optimize the area-of-effect (AoE) of non-house buildings.
On the shore should be fine if you’re just starting out or are playing the campaign. But, in a more aggressive game, it’s best not to put everything on the shore and focus on the heart of the island. This way, you can build defenses and fend off potential invasions.
Create In A Cluster Of Four
Players should not place more than five houses next to each other, since some buildings, like the Market and Tavern, measure distance by roads.
For example, in the image above, the Sanctuary can’t affect the houses on the bottom row, since there’s no road in between the houses.
However, once you place a road between the cluster of houses, the Sanctuary easily reaches the bottom row.
4×2 is the most practical house layout. Make sure to place roads all around the eight houses. Then, place the Tavern and Market at the heart of the residential area. Save the middle zone for non-house buildings.
Latium Tavern and Markets can be rotated so that it has the same six-tile height as the surrounding houses. Doing this six-tile vertical orientation also makes it perfect for the Pileus Felter and Spinner to be placed on top of each other.
Next Is The Fashion Buildings
Some buildings in Anno 117: Pax Romana affect its surroundings based on road distances. For example, Market, Taverns, Grammaticus, and Sanctuary (Fanum).
Meanwhile, other buildings, like fashion or household production buildings, affect their surroundings in a certain AoE.
If you place the Tavern and Market vertically, the six tiles they occupy are perfect for aligning the Pileus Felter and Spinner on top of each other (horizontally).
The City Watch
Since you have space in the middle, you can squeeze in the City Watch buildings, such as Vigiles, Medici, and Custodia. Arrange accordingly to get the maximum result.
Remember, City Watch measures distance by roads, so you can add a one-tile road next to buildings like Vigiles and Custodia to make it “nearer” to some houses.
Isolate Buildings With Debuffs
After you unlock the tier two workforce in Anno 117: Pax Romana, you’ll need to construct buildings that have debuffs, like Charcoal Burners and Bakery. Both lower the Fire Safety attribute, so it’s best to isolate these buildings away from the compacted houses.
Always prioritize isolating these buildings, even when they have positive effects, like an Income boost.
Governor Villa Right In The Middle
Soon, you’ll have access to the Governor Villa. The villa has a massive range, so it’s the perfect middle piece for your housing area.
Grammaticus And Sanctuary
Like with Tavern, Market, and Governor Villa, both Grammaticus and Sanctuary (Fanum) should go in the middle if possible.
If there’s not enough space, then you can build two of the same building. Place one on one side.
And the second building on the opposite side. This way, all the houses will still get the attribute buff in Anno 117: Pax Romana.
