1 Hytale Settings Change Makes a Big Difference

By newsgame

Turning off the user interface in Hytale could increase the game’s frames per second by around 60%, according to a user report on social media. Although Hytale has been considered an enjoyable experience by early adopters, the indie sandbox title is still an early-access game that has some bugs for developer Hypixel Studios to sort out.

Tracing its roots back to Minecraft‘s fan-made Hypixel server, Hytale‘s road to its early access launch was not an easy path. Riot Games canceled Hytale‘s development and disbanded Hypixel Studios in 2025. In response, studio founder Simon Collins-Laflamme said he intended to purchase Hytale and Hypixel Studios from Riot Games and its parent company, Tencent. Fortunately for Hytale fans, Collins-Laflamme’s efforts were successful, and Hypixel Studios was revived as an independent game studio. On January 13, Hytale was subsequently launched in early access via a standalone game client for Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. Hytale requires purchasing one of three early access editions, with the base version starting at $20.

After Just a Few Days, Hytale Modders Are Already Trying to Make the Game Look Like Minecraft

Just days after its early access release, one Hytale modder is already trying to make the game look like Minecraft.

Hiding Hytale’s HUD Could Increase the Game’s Performance

Although Collins-Laflamme stated he has no regrets about launching Hytale in early access, the indie title has a few technical issues that need to be addressed. On the Hytale subreddit, a user named MadwolfBF stated that they were able to increase their FPS playing Hytale by turning off the game’s HUD. After hiding the HUD, MadwolfBF said they were able to increase their FPS by 60%, from 250 to 400. The HUD in Hytale can be turned on or off by pressing the F8 key, where it will cycle through three views. Pressing F8 once will hide Hytale‘s HUD, although the player character’s arms and any items held in them will remain visible. Pressing F8 again will hide the character’s arms completely, and another F8 press will return the HUD and player character’s arm visibility back to normal.

Additionally, MadwolfBF said they accomplished such a feat on an older Intel CPU and 32GB of DDR4 RAM, alongside an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card. Although Hytale has an in-game performance counter, MadwolfBF said they tracked the performance differences using Nvidia’s overlay, which includes an FPS counter alongside CPU and GPU usage trackers. Given that the recommended specs for playing Hytale at 1080p are not steep, other PC gamers can likely achieve high performance on older graphics cards like the popular GeForce RTX 3060.

Hytale’s To-Do List Just Got Longer

Early access titles like Hytale are prone to bugs and issues early on, with the hope that players can contribute reports to help the developers. While a few users reported a performance increase thanks to MadwolfBF’s post, some Hytale players said that they did not gain as much FPS on their hardware, making the HUD issues a curious case. Other Hytale players responded to MadwolfBF’s post by stating they would share it and see if Hypixel Studios can take a look into the HUD’s performance issues. As of this writing, Hytale is working on its second early access content update. Hytale Update 2 will add a highly-requested feature for players to enjoy, as the game will soon allow character helms and armor pieces to be hidden. As of this writing, a pre-release version of Hytale Update 2 will be available for players to test out in the coming days, though Hypixel Studios did not give an exact date on when it would be available to download.

Despite the performance quirks of its early access window, Hypixel Studios stated that Hytale‘s pre-release sales figures ensured that it would be supported for a long time. Given the positive responses from players so far, time will tell what features Hypixel Studios has in store during Hytale‘s early access window.
