A Valheim Player is Building Dollar Generals and Chili’s Restaurants in the Game
A dedicated Valheim player has taken it upon themselves to build Dollar General stores and Chili’s restaurants in the game, with some hilarious results. The player has also built various other food chains and stores in Valheim, bringing a hint of the real world into Iron Gate Studio’s survival title.
Valheim launched into Early Access in 2021, featuring a suite of building features that allow players to build structures and bases across the game world. These features have a low floor, meaning any player can jump in and put together a solid Valheim base. Equally, though, they also have a high ceiling, so players who want to master building in Valheim and create something truly impressive can take the time to do so. As with any tools like these, Valheim players have always gone above and beyond with their creations. Just recently, one Valheim player added a gigantic fire escape to a Sealed Tower, which offers tons of utility as well as looks cool. It’s always interesting to see what the more creative Valheim players are doing with the tools at their disposal.
One Valheim Skill Isn’t For Everyone
While many playstyles are viable in Valheim, one particular skill often gets overlooked by most players in favor of more convenient alternatives.
Valheim Player Builds Various Stores and Restaurants in the Game
X user Greg the Sorcerer sparked a bunch of discussion online after sharing their impressive Valheim recreation of a Chili’s restaurant in-game. According to the player, after being annoyed by a group of goblins, they “destroyed their village and turned it into a Chili’s.” They also revealed their in-game version of a Dollar General, creating it because “the natural beauty of this place disgusted me.” Both are eerily accurate, and Greg the Sorcerer has even managed to recreate the logos of both chains in their Valheim build. Both posts went viral on X, with the Chili’s and Dollar General attracting over 66,000 and 17,000 likes, respectively.
In follow-up replies, Greg the Sorcerer revealed that he isn’t stopping at Chili’s and Dollar General. He has also put a T-Mobile store right next to the Dollar General, suggesting the start of a full retail park built in Valheim at this point. As well as the Chili’s restaurant, Greg the Sorcerer has built a Waffle House and a McDonald’s, taking the base-building freedom in Valheim to new heights. Although the player doesn’t show them in their posts, all the buildings do appear to have detailed interiors, so it would be very interesting to see what they look like on the inside, too.
Others in the replies had even more suggestions for Greg the Sorcerer to build in the future. One gamer said, “Walmart when?” while another claimed, “You need a Wendy’s for the ‘Sir, this is Wendy’s’ memes.” It’s not clear whether the player plans to build even more stores and restaurants in the future, but if they do, hopefully, they choose to continue sharing them with the world, as it’s a super fun concept executed so well.
As it remains in Early Access, there’s still tons for Valheim fans to look forward to in the coming months. It was revealed last year that Valheim is finally coming to PlayStation 5 in 2026, finally bringing the PC and Xbox console exclusive to Sony’s platform. As of the last developer update in November, Iron Gate Studio confirmed that there are plans to bring some more building pieces to the game, which should expand what is possible for creative builders in the game.
