2022 Tycoon Game Free on Steam Until January 20
Smart Factory Tycoon is currently free to claim on Steam as a result of its first-ever 100% discount on Valve’s storefront. Steam users have until January 20 to take advantage of the newly launched deal.
Released in late March 2022, Smart Factory Tycoon is a factory simulation game developed by Turkish studio Turquoise Revival Games. It tasks players with setting up factories, designing robot-run production lines, conducting research, and performing energy management, among other activities.
Epic Games Store’s January 22 Freebie Is Like Classic GTA With a Twist
The Epic Games Store reveals a GTA-like title as its January 22 freebie, while allowing users two claim several other free games in the meantime.
Smart Factory Tycoon Is Free on Steam for the First Time Ever
Smart Factory Tycoon has been free to claim on Steam since Saturday, January 17. The newly launched offer equates to $14.99 worth of savings. While the game has seen frequent discounts since its early 2022 release, dropping as low as $0.89 (94% off), the ongoing promotion marks the first time ever that it is literally being given away to PC gamers. Steam users can add Smart Factory Tycoon to their accounts at no cost until Tuesday, January 20, at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm CET.
Current Free Steam Games
Smart Factory Tycoon is published by GrabTheGames, which frequently uses Steam freebies to advertise its other bundles on Valve’s marketplace. The same appears to be the case this time around, with Smart Factory Tycoon‘s giveaway coinciding with deep discounts on three bundles containing the game. One of them combines the 2022 title with Retail Company Simulator, a 2024 store management sim that’s played entirely in first person and also supports online co-op. Another bundles Smart Factory Tycoon with Sporting Goods Shop, a 2025 early access game from the same developer behind Retail Company Simulator, Business Tycoon. Finally, Turquoise Revival’s entire Steam portfolio bundle is currently on sale as well, available for $9.43, or 86% off. All three sales are framed as part of special promotions running through the end of January 2026.
Smart Factory Tycoon is likely to appeal to fans of traditional management simulations and factory automation games, not least because it incorporates elements of both. The game centers on designing modular factories staffed by robots, which can be purchased and upgraded. It also tasks players with tracking a variety of market trends, investing in new product lines, and optimizing production through renewable energy and advanced assembly technology, among other pursuits.
The ongoing Steam giveaway covers the full, content-complete version of the game. A separate free-to-play edition—essentially the prologue—called Smart Factory Tycoon: Beginnings is also available on Valve’s storefront. While the full game has 66.33% positive user reviews on Steam, placing it in Valve’s “Mixed” category, the prologue version is rated “Mostly Positive” with a 73.10% approval rate. OpenCritic does not offer an average score or rating for Smart Factory Tycoon on account of having too few reviews in its database to draw from. However, its only review on record is positive, describing the game as enjoyable and accessible, though occasionally dull during periods of waiting for upgrade funds to pour in.
In related news, Steam users are able to claim Initial Drift Online completely free of charge until later today, January 18. Developed by indie studio RewindApp, the 2023 title offers a chance to race across some of Japan’s most iconic mountain routes, build a sizable car collection, and set a wide variety of records in both single-player and online multiplayer. Separately, the latest Epic Games Store promotion is offering both Styx: Master of Shadows and the Deluxe Edition of Styx: Shards of Darkness free of charge until January 22. The two freebies will then be replaced with a 100% discount on Rustler – Grand Theft Horse.
