This is When WWE 2K25 is Shutting Down

WWE 2K25 servers will be shutting down on March 31, 2027. WWE 2K25 is not even a year old yet, but fans already know when they will lose access to its online multiplayer features. Unfortunately, it’s proven to be a consistent trend with the WWE 2K games for online support to end in a relatively short amount of time.

Ever since the WWE 2K series made its triumphant comeback with WWE 2K22, the online support for the pro wrestling games has been short-lived. WWE 2K22‘s servers were shut down in January 2024, while WWE 2K23 servers were shut down in January 2025. It was previously expected that the WWE 2K24 servers would shut down in January of this year, but support was ultimately extended through March 31.

WWE 2K26 Narrows Down Its Release Window

Fans of the WWE 2K franchise now have a general idea of when the next wrestling game, WWE 2K26, will be making its way to players.

When is WWE 2K25 Shutting Down?

March 31, 2027 for PC, PS5, and Xbox
March 31, 2028 for Switch 2

At that point, WWE 2K24 servers will be shut down, and a year later, WWE 2K25 will follow its predecessor into the grave. According to the latest information from 2K, the WWE 2K25 servers will shutter on March 31, 2027, a little over two years after the game launched. This means that WWE 2K25‘s online functionality will survive a longer than 2K22 and 2K23, but it’s still a relatively short shelf-life compared to other online multiplayer games. The WWE 2K25 Switch 2 version will last a year longer, with its services scheduled to end on March 31, 2028 instead. This is likely because the Switch 2 version of the game came out later than the version released for other platforms.

When the WWE 2K25 servers are shut down on March 31, 2027, fans will no longer be able to access any of the game’s online features. This means no user-created content and no online multiplayer matches. Considering how much work some people put into creating content for these games, it’s definitely sad to see the titles shut down so frequently, but it’s something customers need to expect whenever they decide to pick up the latest WWE 2K game.

WWE 2K26 is On the Way

WWE 2K25 is the main pro wrestling game on the market right now, but it will soon be replaced. While it has yet to be officially revealed, we do know that WWE 2K26 is in active development. No official details on WWE 2K26 have been shared at the time of this writing, but there have been some interesting leaks about what the new game may be bringing to the table.

If the leaks are to be believed, WWE 2K26 will feature CM Punk for its Showcase Mode. It’s also expected that the new game will have something to do with the Attitude Era, and will introduce new match types. Historically, new WWE 2K games have been revealed around the Royal Rumble season, though it remains to be seen if that will hold true for WWE 2K26.

This year’s Royal Rumble is being held in Saudi Arabia, which means it’s highly unlikely that the usual WWE 2K Royal Rumble press events will be taking place. Even so, the Rumble could still be used to debut WWE 2K26. Regardless, those looking forward to WWE 2K26 will have to tune in to the show when it airs on ESPN Saturday, January 31 at 2pm ET.
