Hytale Essence of the Void Drop Locations
You can get Essences of the Void by beating Void creatures that appear during the night. The most common of Void creatures are bisected, ghoul-like monsters that attack players in melee range with their claws. Rarely, you may also encounter larger Void monsters that resemble Beholders from Dungeons and Dragons — these are floating eyeball monsters with tentacles that will launch projectiles at you, so make sure to bring a bow (preferably Iron tier or above) whenever you go out at night.
All Void creatures drop varying amounts of Essence of the Void when killed, and the big eyeball monsters also have a chance to drop Voidhearts, which are used for crafting Mithril equipment. If you’ve just started Hytale, it’ll take a long while before you can make Mithril gear, but it may be a good idea to start hoarding Voidheartrs as soon as you can regardless.
Void monsters only seem to appear on the surface, so if you really want to start hunting them, avoid going underground. Thankfully, their spawnrates seem to be fairly high, and they appear pretty much everywhere. Once you clear a group of Void creatures out, move on to a different area to improve your chances of finding more.
Iron Hand Crossbows are very good for dealing big chunks of damage against enemies. We recommend bringing one and using it together with a regular bow for quickly taking down high-health enemies.
What are Essences of the Void For?
As of writing, Essences of the Void are primarily used for crafting Mithril armor, the highest tier of gear available to players in the early access release version of the game. You only need the essences to craft the armor pieces; Mithril weapons require Voidhearts, while Mithrol tools require no additional resources apart from Mithril Ingots and Storm Leather.
