Charcoal is a fuel source in Hytale and a crafting material for certain items in the game. Fortunately, making Charcoal is fairly straightforward, and something players will have an easy time with as long as they know how to do it.
This guide covers the exact method players can use to get Charcoal in Hytale, as well as the benefits of doing so. Here is how it works.
How to Make Glass & Windows in Hytale
While there is no standard glass block in Hytale, it is possible for players to make their own glass bottles and windows for their builds.
How to Make Charcoal in Hytale
Charcoal can be made by burning any fuel item at a Furnace or Campfire in Hytale. Every time wooden sticks, tree trunks, plant fiber, or any other fuel item is consumed as fuel at a workstation, Charcoal is obtained as a byproduct of the chemical process.
This means that whenever you cook any food at a Campfire or smelt an Ore at a Furnace using a fuel other than Charcoal itself, a piece of Charcoal is created alongside the food item or Ingot.

It is also possible to convert all types of fuel into Charcoal by placing them in the Fuel section of a Campfire or Furnace and turning the station on. The fuel item will be converted into Charcoal with a 1:1 ratio. The main reason to do this is to convert all different sources of fuel in your inventory into a single, stackable unit in the form of Charcoal that is convenient to store in a single place.
Charcoal is a more efficient fuel source compared to raw wooden sticks or plant fibers, but only marginally so. You won’t see a drastic increase in efficiency when using Charcoal instead of other materials in most cases.
Is There Coal in Hytale?
No, there is not. Coal Ore is not currently a thing in Hytale. However, that might change in the future. Players cannot find a Coal block in the underground areas like Copper or Iron Ore, and will not be able to convert Charcoal into Coal either.
It is possible that some players will make a mod for Hytale that adds Coal blocks to the game, but it isn’t available in the base game.
