How to Unlock Celestial Seize in Where Winds Meet
Celestial Seize is one of the four main puzzle skills in Where Winds Meet, and like the others, it’s useful in both exploration and combat. By focusing your energy at your fingertips, Celestial Seize lets you grab items from people’s pockets or snatch weapons away from your enemies’ hands, making this an invaluable skill to have while exploring the Jianghu.
Unlike traditional MMORPGs, even important skills like Celestial Seize in Where Winds Meet can be easily missed. Many skills are locked behind seemingly unimportant quests and encounters, and in the case of Celestial Seize, you can get it by beating a scammer at Heaven’s Pier.
Where to Get Celestial Seize in Where Winds Meet
This skill is given to you as a reward for completing the Foul Play Exploration Quest in Heaven’s Pier — this isn’t as long or as complicated as some other WWM quests, and it should only take a minute or so. As you’re strolling through the village, you’ll run into a man named Hu Wei who is supposedly unbeatable at drinking games. Nearby, you’ll find Qiu Yuehai, and if you speak with him, he’ll tell you that Hu Wei is actually cheating.
Instead of letting you confront Hu Wei directly, Qiu Yuehai tells you to grab the scammer’s vial of Nullifying Pills instead. To this end, he teaches you Celestial Seize, which you can use to snatch the Nullifying Pill vial away from a distance. Celestial Seize will automatically be equipped on your first Mystic Skill slot for this part of the quest, and to use it, press the relevant skill button, then select the Nullifying Pill vial as your target.
Once you’ve taken away the pill bottle, confront Hu Wei and challenge him to a fair drinking competition. He’ll naturally lose, then he’ll expose himself as a cheater. The villagers will chase him away, leaving you and Qiu Yuehai alone with the other spectators. After this, you’ll be able to use Celestial Seize as you please.
How Does Celestial Seize Work?
While in exploration mode, Celestial Seize can be used to either pickpocket NPCs from a distance or collect items that are far away. Pickpocketing has a percentage chance of working, so don’t expect to just steal from everyone you meet.
In combat, Celestial Seize can be used to attack an enemy by stealing their weapon and smashing it against them. It deals decent damage, making it a solid offensive option that can complement your main weapons in Where Winds Meet. Celestial Seize’s damage scales according to the weight of the weapon you stole; the heavier the weapon, the higher the damage.
Unfortunately, Celestial Seize has a lengthy cooldown, and if you use it against common enemies using swords or spears, it won’t be of much use (though it will disarm your target for a short while). This skill is much more valuable in co-op, where other players can take advantage of the lengthy Celestial Seize combat animation.
