Resident Evil Showcase Announced for January 15
Capcom has announced that a Resident Evil Showcase will be airing on January 15, 2026. Based on the teaser trailer released ahead of the event, the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase will focus on Resident Evil Requiem, likely giving fans more developer insights and some additional gameplay details ahead of its February 27 release date.
First teased in a July 2024 Capcom Showcase, Resident Evil Requiem received its first fully-fledged announcement trailer during the 2025 Summer Game Fest, where new protagonist Grace Ashcroft and returning location Raccoon City were first officially confirmed. Since then, Resident Evil Requiem has received several trailers, with the latest debuting at The Game Awards 2025 and finally confirming the return of beloved long-time series protagonist Leon Kennedy following a plethora of rumors and leaks in the months prior.
Every Main Resident Evil Game In Release Order
The Resident Evil franchise has been around for decades and is responsible for some of the greatest horror games ever. Here are all the main releases.
Resident Evil Showcase Confirmed for January 15, 2026
- Airing January 15 at 5pm ET/2pm PT/10pm GMT
The teaser trailer Capcom released for the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase offered just 10 seconds of in-game footage, but those 10 seconds offered a sizable glimpse of what fans might see on January 15. Leon Kennedy took up most of the teaser’s very short runtime, with him engaging in melee combat with a chainsaw-wielding zombie in a lab coat. Based on one extremely brief shot, it seems as though Leon will be able to parry melee attacks in Resident Evil Requiem just as he did in Resident Evil 4 Remake. A brief look at first-person shooting was also given in this teaser, seemingly confirming a change from Resident Evil 7 and Village, as players can now aim down the sights of a weapon.
Resident Evil Requiem‘s director, Koshi Nakanishi, was also shown for a split-second in the Resident Evil Showcase teaser trailer, suggesting that the showcase will likely feature interviews with the game’s developers. This will probably be the first time Resident Evil Requiem‘s developers will be speaking openly about Leon Kennedy’s return since the confirmation back in December 2025. Before Leon appeared in the Resident Evil Requiem Game Awards trailer, Capcom was adamant that he would not be appearing in the game at all, stating that the character is a “bad match for horror” during a Capcom Spotlight in June 2025 and denying his existence in the game several times between the game’s announcement and December.
Along with an explanation of Capcom’s secrecy surrounding Leon Kennedy’s return, fans can potentially expect to see comparisons between his gameplay sequences and those of co-protagonist Grace Ashcroft. Current rumors suggest that Leon’s sections will be more action-focused (like Resident Evil 4 Remake) while Grace’s will offer a more traditional survival horror experience a la Resident Evil 7.
Something that’s important to note is that despite its title suggesting that the wider franchise is getting a spotlight, the Resident Evil Showcase seems to be solely focused on Resident Evil Requiem, at least based on the teaser trailer above. Only footage from Resident Evil Requiem is shown during the teaser, and the English voiceover specifically describes it as “a showcase with more information on Resident Evil Requiem.” With previous Resident Evil Showcases, Capcom has usually been quite transparent about what it intends to show, such as with 2022’s RE Showcase when it confirmed that Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, and “more” were planned to appear.
That all said, there’s a non-zero chance that another Resident Evil game could be shown during the January 15 Showcase. Though Capcom hasn’t officially confirmed that any other Resident Evil games are in development, leakers like Dusk Golem have claimed that remakes of Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica are in the works.
