How to Find And Beat Goliath in StarRupture
The Goliath is a heavily armored, ultra-aggressive, and dangerous Vermin variant that hides below ground, waiting for an unsuspecting prospector to roam around its aggro zone to sweep in and mercilessly chase them to the ends of Arcadia-7.
This creature is not only powerful enough to one-shot unprepared players, but it is also fast despite its size and heavy armor. Plus, it boasts several attacks which make it a type of ‘Boss’ Vermin, and it is often surrounded by other variants like the Swarmer, the Spitter, the Exploder, and Blader.
Every big swarm of these creatures can be commanded by one or more Goliaths, and that is super dangerous. Here’s an overview of what the Goliath does and how to avoid dying from its attacks:
- Defensive mode: The Goliath slows down and covers its front with its claws, turning invulnerable to fire. It will keep chasing players and, when in range, execute a charge.
- Charge: The Goliath rushes forward, causing heavy damage and pushing down players. Can be easily dodged, but those caught unguarded might be killed by the follow-up attack.
- Pincer Attack: the Goliath sweeps in front of it, or turns around in a quick 180º spin to sweep behind itself.
- Shockwave: The Goliath pounds the ground causing a shockwave that spreads in a straight line pattern, damaging everything on its path.
ARC Raiders: How To Beat a Shredder
Shredders are one of the most dangerous enemies in ARC Raiders, capable of destroying entire teams in seconds. Learn how to beat them with this guide!
To defeat a Goliath players must divert its attention, then attack from the rear. Its backside has a small gap in the carapace that needs to be repeatedly shot to damage the creature. After two or three discharges with the LMG or the Assault Rifle, it should go down (theoretically).
But, the problem is that this creature will not expose its weakspot easily, so working as a team is essential. One player needs to distract it (by aggroing it), then the rest of the crew should shoot it down.
Grenades don’t seem to work with this behemoth, but they will help cull down the swarm that often roams around the Goliaths protectng their flanks. So use them sparingly and only if the swarm gets hard to control.
For solo players: Run. Don’t stop running until the Goliath is separated from its swarm, and put some distance and altitude between them. Take the high ground and wait until the Goliath circles around to try and reach this position by looking for a way up, that’s the moment when it will expose its vulnerability. Exploit it and kill it.
Is it worth Farming Goliaths?
Yes, it’s one of the best ways to farm lots of Data Points, since its biological sample is worth 5000 Data Points, and every Goliath drops at least one when it dies. The problem is that killing more than one of these at the same time is asking to be killed.
Try to take them down one by one. Since Goliaths often roam around Sulfur Pits in Arcadia-7. Try to move a bit Northeast from the Landing Zone to discover the area where these creatures spawn.
