Stranger Things Chapter 2 Finally Adding Vecna as a New Killer

By newsgame

Stranger Things is coming back to Dead by Daylight very soon, and Behaviour Interactive has released more details regarding the incoming Survivors and, even more excitingly, the powers of Vecna. Stranger Things and Dead by Daylight already have a strong history going, and the next update will finally bring its most terrifying monster to The Fog.

The season 5 finale of Stranger Things went live on December 31, marking the end of an era for Netflix’s retro horror show, which has been running since 2016 and holds the crown as the platform’s most popular original television series. Though the show is now over, fans can still dive into its previously released Dead by Daylight content, and an update coming near the end of January will finally let players face off against Vecna, or even terrorize Survivors with his array of reality-warping powers.

Stranger Things’ Second Crossover with Dead by Daylight Arrives on January 27

Dead by Daylight‘s second Stranger Things crossover was first announced in late November, making Netflix’s series only the second franchise to receive a second collaborative effort in the asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror game. However, that teaser announcement was pretty threadbare in detail, and now, the development team behind Dead by Daylight has released a ton of new information regarding what will be included in its next update, including the release of a new one-minute-long trailer. Arriving on January 27, players who purchase the DLC will be able to step into the role of The First, which is the in-game name for series antagonist Henry Creel, or Vecna, as he’s known by the Dungeons & Dragons-playing members of the cast.

Players taking on the role of Dead by Daylight‘s latest Killer will have the ability to bend the world to their will. Though his abilities haven’t been laid out in detail, he will be able to use the power of the Upside Down to gain “terrifying mobility,” which includes the ability to rise out of the ground to launch an attack on Survivors. He will also be able to use his trademark vines to ensnare other players, just like in the show. Additionally, he’ll be able to place special curses on Survivors that will throw their perception of reality out of focus, making the key to stopping Vecna seem pretty hard to achieve.

Along with Vecna, two more survivors are on the way in the form of Eleven and Dustin. Both of these characters have been around since the start of the series, though Eleven is a bit of an odd choice, considering that Survivors are meant to be incredibly underpowered when compared to Killers. The official announcement states that both new Survivors will come with their own set of skills, making note of Dustin’s clever resourcefulness and Eleven’s psychic powers. In the show, Eleven seemingly has the power to bring people back to life, in addition to launching her standard psychic bolts, so it will be interesting to see how these powers are balanced with the other Survivors’ skill sets in-game.

Additionally, a couple of new skins will bring in some fan-favorite characters, introducing Robin Buckley to the game and reviving fan favorite Eddie Munson. The first Stranger Things crossover in Dead by Daylight, which was recently revived, let Survivor players step into the roles of Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington, as well as providing the Demogorgon as a Killer. In the second update, special skins for Nancy and Dustin will transform them into Robin and Eddie, respectively, allowing Survivors to run a full team of Stranger Things characters against Vecna or any number of The Fog’s other terrifying Killers, including the version of Vecna from the Dungeons & Dragons update.
