“Acting Has a Lot of Waiting” Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Briana White Explains Why Streaming Became Part of Her Career

By newsgame

For many actors, the time between roles can be just as demanding as the work itself. Speaking about her career following Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Briana White, who plays Aerith Gainsborough, explained that waiting is an unavoidable part of acting and one that often comes with real financial pressure. From headshots and workshops to networking and appearances, White said maintaining an acting career requires constant investment, even during long stretches where auditions don’t turn into booked roles.

That reality eventually pushed White to explore streaming during downtime after Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Rather than waiting passively for the next opportunity, White described streaming as a creative outlet and a way to stay engaged with games on her own terms. Over time, the overlap between her work as a streamer and her role as Aerith became an unexpected but important part of her career, allowing her to remain active while continuing to pursue voice acting.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Briana White Uses Streaming to Fill in the Gaps

During a recent interview on Game Rant’s Character Select with Naomi Kyle, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth actress Briana White spoke candidly about the financial and emotional realities that come with long gaps between acting work. She explained that waiting is not just common in the industry but costly, with actors expected to continually invest in themselves regardless of whether they are booking roles. From expensive headshots to workshops and professional appearances, White said the demands add up quickly, even when steady work is not coming in.

“Acting has a lot of waiting,” White said. “I can’t pay for all of these workshops if I don’t do something else too. Our career is not just competitive, it’s also expensive.” She went on to describe the pressure of keeping up with industry expectations, noting the cost of renewing headshots every few years, paying for training opportunities, and maintaining a professional image. According to White, streaming video games became a way to offset those costs while also giving her a creative outlet during downtime.

White said streaming offered something she often lacked in acting: control. “I just needed something that made me feel like I was in control of my career,” she explained, adding that being able to go live on her own schedule helped her stay engaged creatively while still pursuing acting. Over time, that choice led to an unexpected overlap with her voice acting work, especially after being cast as Aerith Gainsborough in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. White said the ability to stream games she was acting in was something she never could have planned, calling herself “the luckiest girl in the world” for how those paths eventually crossed.

White explained that streaming also helped her stay connected to games during periods where acting work slowed down. Streaming on Twitch under the name TheStrangeRebel, she said it gave her a consistent routine and a sense of momentum when auditions felt endless or results never came back. Being able to create regularly, interact with viewers, and play games on her own schedule helped break up the long stretches of uncertainty that often come with acting.

She also pointed out that streaming was never meant to replace acting, but to support it. Instead of stepping away from the industry during downtime, White said streaming allowed her to remain visible, sharpen her performance instincts, and stay creatively engaged. That overlap became even more meaningful after Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, where her experience as both an actor and a streamer naturally intersected. For White, streaming became less about chasing attention and more about staying active, prepared, and mentally invested in a career where nothing is guaranteed and waiting is often unavoidable.
