ARC Raiders May Have Just Even the Odds Between PC and Console Players

By newsgame

The controversial NVIDIA Filters feature appears to have been disabled for ARC Raiders players, leveling the playing field between console and PC users. It’s currently unclear whether the feature was disabled intentionally by ARC Raiders developer Embark or if this is another bug related to the NVIDIA PC application. Regardless, its sudden removal appears to have divided the community, with some overjoyed and others in disarray.

Those playing ARC Raiders on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S may be unfamiliar with NVIDIA Filters, but this PC-exclusive feature is likely the reason for countless deaths. As of writing, there’s no in-game setting that allows players to adjust their brightness or gamma, which means all players should have the same visibility levels. Sadly, that’s not the case, as the NVIDIA Filters feature allows players to create custom filter overlays that can drastically change the appearance of ARC Raiders. This isn’t something that is exclusive to Embark’s extraction shooter, but it is being used by thousands of PC players to gain an advantage over others by being able to clearly see enemies in the dark.

ARC Raiders Disables NVIDIA Filters

We’re only two days into 2026, and Embark Studios has yet to release the first update of the year for ARC Raiders. However, a major change did occur on New Year’s Day, as thousands of PC players began reporting that the ability to use NVIDIA Filters in ARC Raiders had been mysteriously disabled. Some have speculated that this is due to a new driver update, but the most recent one was released on December 18, making the sudden change all the more mysterious. Others believe this is an intentional change as a way for Embark to ensure everybody is on the same playing field, but there do appear to be some players claiming that their NVIDIA Filters are still operational.

As the filters allow PC users to gain an unfair in-game advantage, especially over console players, not everyone is disappointed by their removal. One Twitter user said the removal was a “good call,” describing the feature as “an exploit” and not a setting. Others, however, disagree. Over on Reddit, many are calling out the game’s poor visibility, saying that it “needs to be worked on.” Another noted how NVIDIA Filters are extremely useful for those with an OLED monitor, as “dark spots are literally impossible to see.”

At the time of writing this article, neither Embark nor NVIDIA has commented on the matter, so it’s unclear whether this will be fixed or if the feature’s removal is permanent. The studio recently took some well-deserved time off over the Christmas season, but the first patch of 2026 is expected to arrive on Tuesday, January 6. Just before Embark released the massive Cold Snap update for ARC Raiders in December, it announced that it would be shifting its weekly update schedule from Thursdays to Tuesdays. It also said it would monitor critical issues over the holiday break and return in January with new tweaks, bug fixes, and more.

Outside of the recent NVIDIA Filters controversy, players are also currently in a heated discussion about Trigger Grenades in ARC Raiders. Many players are calling for Embark to nerf the item as it is “ruining” PvP encounters. Their high damage output and huge blast radius are making the C4-style item one of the deadliest in the game, but many believe it’s time for them to be nerfed in the next ARC Raiders update.
