Before players attempt to drive, they will need to defrost their car in My Winter Car. To do so, open the door and get in. Hover over the Ignition, and press once to insert the key.

While the heater does its job, you can speed up the process by scraping the windows. Stand outside the car and hover over the windows so that a hand sign appears, and it says ‘Scrape Window‘. Starting at the top, hold down LMB and scrape down.

You should hear a scraping sound to let you know it’s working.

It will take a while to make progress, but doing this on the driver’s window and the left side of the windscreen means you can set off driving.

Turning the engine on in My Winter Car is harder than one might think. First of all, you will want to enter driving mode by pressing Enter.

Then insert the key or turn it by pressing once on the ignition with LMB. Some dashboard lights should turn on.

Using Gears & Driving In My Winter Car

If players have never driven a manual car, prepare to learn. Your car will start in neutral, indicated by an N in the bottom right.

Gears can go up with G and down with B.

  • R – Reverse
  • N – Neutral
  • 1 – 1st Gear
  • 2 – 2nd Gear
  • 3 – 3rd Gear
  • 4 – 4th Gear
  • 5 – 5th Gear

When in Reverse gear, you will still use W for the gas, even though you might be used to using S to go backwards with WASD controls.

Auto-clutch should be turned on by default in the settings, but if players want to use this manually, the clutch is used with X.

Setting Off

To drive, however, you will also need to lift up the handbrake by looking at it and clicking, or by using the Spacebar.

The car can then be put in 1st gear if you want to go forward, and pressing W will put your foot on the gas to drive.

Turning & Breaking

You can use A and D to turn left and right, while S is the brake.

Remember to apply the handbrake again when parking.
