The Cursed Fragment resides inside the village, but players will need to activate four different shrines to lift the Emberwood village barrier first. To lift the barrier in Emberwood village in RuneScape Dragonwilds, players will need to activate four different shrines scattered across the area. Each shrine will require players to either solve a puzzle or survive a combat encounter. Let’s check out how you can activate all four shrines, lift the barrier, and retrieve one of the Cursed Fragments required for the Withering Heights quest.

How to Activate Shrine 1

The first shrine to lift the Emberwood village barrier is located at the beginning of the area if you enter the area via Witchwillow Range. All you need to do is talk to the three ghosts standing near the shrine and listen to their accounts of a party that ended in tragedy.

Once you’ve talked to all the ghosts, interact with the shrine, and you’ll need to select that they’re talking about a massacre at the party, and lastly, the culprit was the Snickering Ghost. Once you choose the right answers, the first shrine will be activated.

The second shrine for the Emberwood village barrier is located just west of the first shrine, inside the area surrounded by tall monolith-like structures. There’s a Green Dragon mini-boss inside the monoliths that you can completely avoid if you want.

If you already have the mount in RuneScape Dragonwilds unlocked, activating the second shrine will become a lot easier. Simply rush to the center of the structure while avoiding the attacks from the Green Dragon.

Activate the shrine and quickly run away from the area. If you choose to fight the Green Dragon, you’ll at least need tier 5 equipment; otherwise, the fight will become a lot harder to manage.

The third shrine for the Emberwood village’s barrier is located northeast of the first shrine, and it won’t activate if you interact with it. You’ll need to find the missing piece and insert it into the shrine to complete it first.

Thankfully, the missing piece of the third shrine can be found stuck on the rocks just below the platform. Make sure you have at least one free slot in your inventory to pick up the piece. Now simply return to the shrine platform and insert it to activate it, weakening the Emberwood village’s barrier in RuneScape Dragonwilds Fellhollow.

The fourth and final shrine of the Emberwood village is located further north of the third shrine, inside a locked building. There isn’t an access point to get inside the building, only the hatch on the second floor.

To enter the building, you’ll need to use the Windstep ability to float your way to the top and enter the building through the open hatch. Once you’re inside, activate the fourth shrine to finally lift the barrier from the Emberwood Village. Be careful while exiting the manor, as a horde of zombies will ambush you from the gate.

To escape the horde of zombies, you can use the Windstep ability again to exit through the same hatch and leave the area safely.

Now return to the Emberwood Village entrance, and you’ll notice that all four shrines are now glowing, and the barrier has been successfully lifted. Quickly enter the village and retrieve the Curse Fragment (Grief) from the glowing green stone inside. Now you’re one step closer to completing the Withering Heights quest in RuneScape Dragonwilds.
