WWE 2K26 Roster Could Be Getting Big Upgrade in 2026
An online post has sparked speculation that WWE 2K26 could be set to add wrestlers from the Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) wrestling promotion upon its launch next year. Although nothing is guaranteed, it seems that WWE could be gearing up to add some popular wrestlers from the Mexican promotion.
AAA is a Mexican promotion initially founded back in 1992, with a heavy luchador focus. Back in April 2025, WWE announced that it had acquired a 51% majority stake in AAA, with entertainment company Fillip holding the remaining 49%. This acquisition closed in August 2025, and WWE has slowly started to bring wrestlers across the promotions where necessary. Perhaps the most prominent example is Dominik Mysterio, who has become a regular face on AAA since the acquisition. The Intercontinental Champion quickly won the AAA Mega Championship in September 2025, becoming the first wrestler in history to hold titles in both promotions at the same time. And despite these kinds of heavy crossovers, WWE hasn’t taken advantage of this in the video game space yet, with WWE 2K25 not featuring any AAA-exclusive wrestlers.
WWE 2K26 Could Feature AAA Wrestlers, and Here’s Why
A recent post on X from WWE NXT Head Referee and AAA producer Adrian Butler has immediately sparked speculation that the WWE 2K26 roster could include wrestlers from the AAA promotion. He shared a post of himself, alongside other AAA referees, with the #wwe2k26 and #LuchaLibreAAA hashtags, claiming it’s “not a bad idea.” While not a direct confirmation from Butler, it stands to reason that he would be clued in on whether AAA wrestlers are planned for the next game in the series. And considering WWE’s recent acquisition of the Mexican promotion, WWE 2K26 would be the perfect time to start integrating AAA wrestlers.
A Reddit thread about Butler’s post has sparked even more speculation about what AAA wrestlers could make the jump to WWE 2K26. Some were concerned that any AAA appearance would resemble previous NXT rosters in the WWE 2K games, with very limited options. Others felt it could depend on which wrestlers are signed to WWE contracts, which might somewhat limit the options. However, most were very excited about the potential of AAA wrestlers finally appearing in WWE 2K26, and began naming some popular choices for who they’d like to see pop up in the upcoming game. Wrestlers like Mr. Iguana, La Parka, Psycho Clown, and El Hijo del Vikingo were all frequently mentioned as predictions for WWE 2K26, among others.
Possible AAA Wrestlers in WWE 2K26
- Dr. Wagner Jr.
- El Hijo del Vikingo
- Faby Apache
- La Parka
- Lady Flammer
- Mr. Iguana
- Psycho Clown
Some fans pointed out that the addition of AAA could come at the perfect time for the WWE 2K games. Thanks to the TNA crossover deal signed with WWE at the start of 2025, some believe TNA wrestlers could also appear in WWE 2K26. Alongside AAA, this could be a fairly substantial roster expansion for the gamer. The success of these potential additions could depend on how well they’re integrated. For example, if players got some AAA content in the MyRISE career mode, it could feel like a substantial addition to the game.
As it stands, players will just have to wait and see if AAA is announced for WWE 2K26, whether that be as launch content or post-release DLC. A release date for the title has not yet been confirmed. However, a release window for WWE 2K26 was recently revealed, confirming that the game is set to arrive between January and March 2026. Given how close it is to January and 2K25‘s March release earlier this year, fans should probably expect something similar for the next title in the series.
