Where to Get Sundered Night in D4 (& Is It Good?)
Sundered Night is a Unique 2H Axe in Diablo 4 that makes Aura Paladin builds a bit more interesting. With this equipped, players will fill the screen with wells of light that heals allies and sears enemies. The weapon itself won’t be doing much fighting, and neither will you when demons start burning just by being in your presence. If you want to get Sundered Night in Diablo 4 or make a build out of it, here’s a guide to help you out.
Diablo 4 Supplication Drop Location
Supplication can supercharge the Paladin Brandish builds in Diablo 4. Here’s how you can get one of these Unique swords.
How to Farm Sundered Night in Diablo 4?
Sundered Night has a high probability of dropping from Grigoire the Galvanic Saint. You can find his boss lair just south of Ked Bardu. Players can challenge Grigoire at any time (as long as they’re on any of the Torment difficulties), but in order to claim anything from the boss’ treasure hoard, you’ll need to have at least 12 Living Steel in your inventory.
Living Steel is mainly obtained by opening Helltide chests. Find an active Helltide zone, slaughter some monsters, and open your map to find chests around the area. We recommend opening Tortured Gifts of Mysteries first (chests highlighted in orange); they’re a bit more expensive to open, but they tend to contain better loot.
Thankfully, Sundered Night is fairly common, unlike some other Paladin Uniques in Diablo 4. Living Steel is very easy to farm as well, if not a little time-consuming.
Is Sundered Night Good in Diablo 4?
When you have Sundered Night equipped, you will automatically cast Consecration whenever you activate one of your Aura skills, and you have up to 180% increased Aura Potency while standing on Consecration. For those who don’t know, Consecration will heal any allies and hurt any enemy on top of it, but perhaps most importantly, it will increase your outgoing damage and reduce incoming damage by x15%.
Additionally, Sundered Night comes with the following affixes:
- +Maximum Life
- +Movement Speed
- +Cooldown Reduction
- +Ranks to Anointing
Each instance of Consecration deals its own set of damage, which means enemies will take damage from as many Consecration fields they’re standing on. However, the damage increase and reduction buffs do not stack. The healing effect from intersection Consecration fields also seem to stack, but it’s hard to tell.
How to Build Around Sundered Night
You can give Sundered Night to a regular Auradin build in D4 and get a ton of value out of it. Just run around and spam your Auras and Consecrate, and watch as everything around you burns. However, we found that Sundered Night is more effective when paired with Arbiter of Justice, as it lets us get bonus damage while in Arbiter form.
One thing to keep in mind is that since you’re using a 2H weapon, you won’t be able to benefit as much from any effects that let you scale with Block Chance, such as the Shield Bearer Paragon Node.
