Introducing Pause for Thought

At Game Rant, we strive to cover all things gaming: news, editorials, guides and everything in between! We’ve also recently expanded into interactive maps that allow players to easily find locations, collectibles and other items in their favorite games. We’ve even launched the Game Rant Roadshow that shines a light on gaming culture within local communities, touring locations like lounges, arcades, community colleges, etc.

Today, we want to expand that coverage by offering access to longer-form content that will give a look at what goes on behind the games and the industry that we know and love. We’re launching a new YouTube channel called Pause for Thought, where the goal is to talk with the people that make the industry go round: voice actors, developers, streamers or content creators — anyone who has an impact on games is who we want to spotlight.

Pausing to Take a Deeper Look at What Shapes Our Industry

To properly kick off this new channel, we’re premiering a brand-new series called Character Select. On this show, we want to chat with the voices behind the games. We want to know everything about their careers and their journey. All of this will be hosted by the one and only Naomi Kyle. She’s an actor, host, producer and streamer who you may recognize from her previous work on Daily Fix, her own personal YouTube channel or even other Game Rant shows like CL1P IT!

In this inaugural episode, Naomi sat down with Ghost of Yotei’s Erika Ishii, who is an iconic figure in games, animation, and comedy. Other than playing the previously mentioned title’s main protagonist, Atsu, you may also remember her as Rook in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sektor in Mortal Kombat 1 or Valkyrie in Apex Legends. Outside of gaming, Erika has also appeared on a variety of different shows for comedy streamer Dropout, such as Dimension 20, Game Changer, and Make Some Noise. Erika is also the proud co-creator of the record-breaking narrative play and storytelling collective Worlds Beyond Number along with Aabria Iyengar, Brennan Lee Mulligan, and Lou Wilson.
