LEGO Has Huge Plans for Gamers in 2026, And I Can’t Wait
As with any year, LEGO fans are in a holding period as they await the next batch of sets. While we know a few LEGO sets that are releasing in 2026, there is plenty we don’t know about, and a few that have been teased but not officially revealed.
For gamers in particular, next year looks to be a big year for keeping an eye on LEGO, and not just if you are a collector. There are likely to be more major sets and LEGO products revealed that will be huge for gamers in 2026, but for right now, there are at least three big LEGO sets for gamers to be excited about.
LEGO Has Big Plans for Zelda Fans in 2026
The Legend of Zelda already released an incredible LEGO set in 2024 featuring an interchangeable Deku Tree diorama from either Breath of the Wild or Ocarina of Time, but there is another set planned for 2026. So far, we have only seen a tease for the LEGO Legend of Zelda set, but that tease was enough to have fans excited.
In the brief teaser, we can see Ocarina of Time-era Link with what appears to be Zelda in the background, watching as an ominous shadow nears. Smart money expects that this set will be connected to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, arguably the most popular of the franchise’s entries, but what exactly the set will include is still a mystery.
Given the shadow moving in on Link, many are expecting that the LEGO Zelda set will feature Ganondorf, potentially in his beast form at the end of OoT. Size, pricing, and release are still a mystery, but many fans are hoping that this set might be on the affordable side compared to the Deku Tree set’s $299 price tag.
If we’re following the LEGO/Nintendo collaboration timeline, it looks like we might see more of the Zelda set in March or April before a release in the summer. LEGO typically likes to give its gaming collaborations a longer tail to build anticipation, as we saw with the LEGO Game Boy set that released earlier this year.
LEGO’s Biggest Gaming Partnership Kicks Off
Not to be outdone by LEGO partnering up with Zelda, the brick-building company is set to launch arguably its biggest gaming collaboration next year with Pokemon. Thus far, we have only seen some leaks and rumors regarding the LEGO Pokemon sets, but it seems the first run will include one affordable set and one more expensive one.
Those rumors also claim that the LEGO Pokemon sets will take an obvious route, featuring builds inspired by two of the most iconic Pocket Monsters from the franchise. It’s a no-brainer that a Pikachu set is planned, and after that Charizard makes the most sense. What is curious, though, is that both of the sets are rumored to target an 18+ recommended age, which suggests they could be more complex builds. With a rumored $199 price tag for the Charizard set, one would expect it to be pretty elaborate, but that age rating is still surprising.
Then there are rumors of a huge LEGO Pokemon set that will be massive in size and command one of the highest price tags we’ve seen for a LEGO gaming set. This massive LEGO Pokemon set will likely be the one that garners the most attention, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it sell very well despite the price.
Similar to its Mario partnership, LEGO likely has big plans for Pokemon that include sets big and small. It’s unclear if there will be an interactive element to the Pokemon sets like Mario has its app-based, coin collecting game, but we wouldn’t be surprised if there was something beyond just building sets.
LEGO Has Something Exciting for Gamers Too
And even if you aren’t interested in LEGO sets, something exciting is on the horizon for gamers in 2026 as well. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the first TT Games release since Star Wars: Legacy of the Skywalker, which featured a revamped camera perspective, new art style, and a large set of open worlds to explore.
With Batman, Traveller’s Tales is looking to bring that same expansive approach to the various media versions of the Dark Knight, from Michael Keaton to Christian Bale to Robert Pattinson. If Rocksteady Games has put its Batman games on hold, then this is the closest we are going to get to the feel of the Arkham games, and that’s exciting. I know that the LEGO games might seem like they skew younger, but TT Games’ titles have been mostly solid across the board.
From Star Wars to Harry Potter, the brick-busting experience is simple, but fun and the LEGO Batman games are among some of my favorites. For those that have been on the LEGO game trip this whole time, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is absolutely one of the most anticipated games of 2026.
It’s a good mix of options for gamers from LEGO in 2026, but there will likely be more announced in the new year. We didn’t know the LEGO Game Boy was a thing until January, and the expectation is that LEGO will leverage the Pokemon partnership early and often. For right now, though, there are at least three reasons for gamers to be excited about LEGO is doing next year.
