PS Plus Extra Game from 2025 is a 10/10 Must-Play
PlayStation Plus does not get day one games at the same rate as Xbox Game Pass, so when it does, it’s always cause for celebration. Day one games are sometimes added as part of the Essential monthly free games, but more often they are part of the Extra tier of PlayStation Plus.
2025 saw the debut of co-op games like Abiotic Factor and FBC: Firebreak to the Extra tier of the service, along with PlayStation console exclusive Sword of the Sea, which boasts jaw-dropping and one of the year’s best soundtracks. Most recently, Skate Story debuted as a day one PS Plus Extra game, which proved to be a solid get for the service considering its high review scores. As far as day one games go, it’s been one of the better years in the history of PS Plus Extra, with the day one games headlined by a 10/10 masterpiece that is an absolute must-play for anyone that has PS Plus Extra or Premium.
New PS Plus Addition is One of the Highest-Rated Games of the Year
One of the latest additions to the PlayStation Plus lineup also happens to be one of the highest-rated new video game releases of the year.
Blue Prince is One of the Best PS Plus Games Ever
Blue Prince was added to PS Plus Extra as a day one game last April, launching to widespread critical acclaim. Despite the fact that Blue Prince was not nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025, the brilliant first-person puzzler shares a 92 overall Metacritic score with GOTY winner Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Blue Prince will most likely stay a part of the PS Plus Extra lineup through next April, so unless the game’s time on the service is longer than expected, subscribers only have about five months left to try it with their subscription.
Blue Prince is a first-person roguelike puzzle game where players go through a sprawling mansion room-by-room. The catch is that players themselves have to choose what each room will be, selecting from three options with various gimmicks. Blue Prince players have to be strategic when selecting rooms, as picking the wrong ones can create dead ends that can effectively end their run. Some Blue Prince rooms have negative effects as well, like subtracting from your total number of steps for the day and forcing you to call it quits earlier than you would have had to otherwise.
The genius of Blue Prince is that it can be beaten in 10-15 hours, but there’s so much more to the experience beyond that. Blue Prince is full of deep overarching puzzles and mysteries that players can choose to engage with or completely ignore. If they want to see absolutely everything Blue Prince has to offer, players should buckle up for an 80-100 hour adventure.
Blue Prince was also a day one Xbox Game Pass game in 2025.
The fact that a game the caliber of Blue Prince is available to PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers is huge for the service. It gives PS Plus Extra a great deal of value, and it, along with the many other games on PS Plus, make the subscription service worth signing up for many. Blue Prince normally costs $29.99, but for just $14.99 you can get a month of PS Plus Extra and probably complete the game within that timeframe.
Keep in mind that everything that is available to Extra subscribers is also available to Premium subscribers. So while PS Plus Essential subscribers unfortunately have to miss out on Blue Prince (unless they decide to purchase it outright, of course), those signed up for PS Plus Extra and Premium have the chance to play one of the better new game releases of 2025. Here’s hoping the new PS Plus Extra and Premium games in 2026 are competitive with what 2025 brought to the table.
