Analysts Give 2 Predictions for GTA 6 Price

By newsgame

Higher-tier editions of Grand Theft Auto 6 may break the $100 mark, according to new predictions from multiple industry analysts. However, the same sources do not expect the base game to be priced significantly above modern AAA titles, offering comparatively lower estimates for the standard edition of GTA 6.

The analysts behind the new forecast include Dr Serkan Toto, the founder of Japan-based consultancy firm Kantan Games, and Piers Harding-Rolls, Head of Games Research at Ampere Analysis. Both have strong track records for accurate industry predictions. In recent times, Toto predicted the launch price range of the Nintendo Switch 2, whereas Harding-Rolls correctly anticipated a third Xbox Game Pass price hike from October 2025 a year in advance.

GTA 6 Base Game Unlikely to Push Pricing Boundaries Much, Analysts Say

In separate interviews with GameIndustry.biz, Toto and Harding-Rolls have recently offered predictions for 2026 game pricing, including forecasts for next year’s most anticipated release. Both analysts expect the standard edition of GTA 6 to remain close to typical AAA pricing, projecting a launch price ranging from the usual $70 to the less common—but not unprecedented—$80. Their view is supported by Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics, who warned that pushing the base game price too far could risk alienating consumers from the GTA 6 version of GTA Online, describing Rockstar’s live-service offerings as the company’s true “long-term cash cow.”

“Limiting the total addressable audience at launch with an aggressively high base price would hinder the crucial GTA 5 to GTA 6 player migration and slow the growth of the GTA Online user base,” Elliott said. However, some industry watchers believe the risk may be justified. Vic Bassey, head of business development at Video Game Insights, said Take-Two Interactive would be “prudent” to push for an overall price increase relative to the typical modern AAA title, citing the high “level of hype” surrounding the publisher’s 2026 release. Bassey is far from the first analyst to suggest GTA 6 could mark a major turning point for video game pricing.

Separately, Harding-Rolls and Toto predicted that higher-tier editions of the upcoming title are likely to cross the $100 mark. This forecast broadly aligns with a July 2025 leak claiming to reveal GTA 6 UK pricing, stating that the base game would retail for £69.99, whereas its “Deluxe” and “Premium” editions would be priced at £89.99 and £109.99, respectively. The source of that claim also suggested that the more expensive versions of the game would offer early access to GTA Online, but without mentioning any other purported purchase incentives.

Latest Analyst Predictions for GTA 6 Launch Price

  • Base game: $70–$80
  • Deluxe edition(s): $100+

The likelihood of GTA 6 offering at least one edition priced above $100 increases when considering Rockstar’s previous major release, Red Dead Redemption 2, which launched with a $99.99 Ultimate Edition in October 2018. In the seven years since then, prices have risen by approximately 28.9%, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ CPI Inflation Calculator.

Limiting the total addressable audience at launch with an aggressively high base price would hinder the crucial GTA 5 to GTA 6 player migration and slow the growth of the GTA Online user base.

GTA 6 Price Reveal Possibly Planned for Mid-2026

Take-Two Interactive remains entirely noncommittal on GTA 6‘s sticker, with CEO Strauss Zelnick repeatedly saying that whatever the publisher ultimately decides, it will aim to deliver an immense value proposition to consumers. Such assurances are standard in executive commentary, especially when offered in response to shareholder and analyst questions, thus offering little insight into the game’s potential launch price range. GTA 6 is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, following two delays. Barring further postponements, official pricing details will likely be announced when Rockstar opens pre-orders sometime in 2026. If Red Dead Redemption 2‘s five-month pre-order window is any indication, GTA 6‘s price could be officially revealed around June 2026.
