Helldivers 2 Leak Teases New Enemy Types
A new Helldivers 2 leak has teased the return of Cyborgs in a future update. Cyborgs were an enemy faction featured in the original Helldivers, but they have not yet featured in the sequel. However, it appears that they’re now in development for an upcoming Helldivers 2 update.
Cyborgs were one of the three enemy factions that players could fight against in the first Helldivers game. For all intents and purposes, they were replaced in the sequel by the robotic Automatons, with Arrowhead Game Studios deciding to freshen them up with the factions in Helldivers 2. In-universe, it was explained that the Automatons were a creation of the Cyborgs, made to continue the fight against Super Earth and free the Cyborgs from being enslaved on Cyberstan. As a result of this, the shadow of the Cyborgs loomed in Helldivers 2, although there hasn’t been any confirmation from the developer that there are any plans to bring them back.

Helldivers 2 Leak Teases Return of the Cyborgs
Over on the HelldiversLeaks subreddit, leaker AsunderKnight shared a few render leaks about content in-development for the game at the moment. A few new enemy types are featured, including a male and female variant of the Helldivers Cyborg from the original game. There are armored versions of each, too, indicating that they’re going to be a formidable foe for players in the future. The designs look pretty faithful to the Cyborgs’ appearance in Helldivers, albeit with considerably more detail to fit the Helldivers 2 aesthetic.
Another thread on the HelldiversUnfiltered subreddit shared even more images from the Cyborg leak, showing some of the animations in action on the models. There are a bunch more structure models, which some speculate could be related to the potential addition of Cyberstan in the future. It would make sense for Cyberstan to return alongside the Cyborgs, as the two go hand-in-hand in Helldivers lore. Some were interested to see whether Arrowhead makes the Cyborgs their own faction, or simply adds them as new enemy types for the Automatons.
As usual, it’s important to take all Helldivers 2 leaks with a grain of salt. While they do confirm that this content has been in the works at some point in time, there’s no guarantee it will make it into the final game. And while it would be a surprise to see an entire returning faction be canceled before release, it wouldn’t be impossible. For example, it was a few months ago now that ship customization in Helldivers 2 was leaked, but there remains nothing on that up to this point. It’s obviously cool to get excited about these kinds of leaks, but it’s equally important not to take them as gospel until Arrowhead Game Studios confirms the Cyborgs for itself.
Arrowhead has largely spent the last few months making Helldivers 2 a more stable experience for players. After a long period of content updates, the game started to experience heavy performance issues, with the file size on PC bloating to nearly 150 GB, despite being a fraction of the size on other platforms. Now, though, it feels as though the game is already in a much better place, leading to the hope that Helldivers 2 can continue adding substantial new content all throughout 2026. There is little in the way of a roadmap so far, so players will just have to wait and see what Arrowhead Game Studios has planned next year. The Cyborg would certainly be a cool addition, especially for those who recognize them from the original game. As it stands, there are currently no plans for Helldivers 3, so players don’t have to worry about support for the second game to slow down any time soon.
