Fans Are Starting to Lose Hope in the Future of Starfield
Starfield fans are beginning to lose hope that the space RPG will ever receive another major update or second DLC after Bethesda’s no-show at The Game Awards last week. While the studio never promised to make any reveals or announcements at the awards ceremony, it has previously stated that news surrounding Starfield would be shared by the end of the year. As The Game Awards was the final and best opportunity to live up to that promise, many were eagerly awaiting to see the controversial title make an appearance.
Although Starfield fans left the night filled with disappointment, The Game Awards still had tons of world premieres and updates on previously announced titles throughout the night. Creator and host Geoff Keighley kicked off the show with undoubtedly the biggest reveal of the night, as a trailer for Star Wars: Fate Of The Old Republic left gamers in awe. The game is a spiritual sequel to Knights Of The Old Republic and will be directed by Casey Hudson, who is best known for his work on the Mass Effect series and KOTOR. Also shown during the event was a first look at two new Tomb Raider games, a new trailer for PS5 exclusive Saros, confirmation that Leon will return in Resident Evil Requiem, the reveal of a new Divinity game, and much more.

Mafia: The Old Country and Starfield have very little in common, but the two suffer from one major issue that can be frustrating.
Starfield’s No-Show at The Game Awards Has Left Fans Feeling Hopeless
There may have been tons of premieres and trailers, but there was a notable absence of Starfield, Bethesda’s controversial space RPG that was released in 2023. The studio never actually said it would be at the award show with any reveals, but for many fans, it was the final hope for anything Starfield-related. After its launch over two years ago, the RPG received numerous content updates and even a major DLC known as Shattered Space, which, unfortunately, received massively negative reviews.
Ever since the release of Shattered Space, Bethesda has been relatively quiet when it comes to anything Starfield-related. Back in March, the studio said the team had been “hard at work” on something new for the title, and while it wouldn’t share details at the time, Bethesda said it had a lot of “exciting things planned for [Starfield] this year.” This message is why fans were left disappointed by the game’s absence at The Game Awards last week. One user took to Reddit and said Bethesda “missed their third chance to show us what they have been working on,” before stating that the studio has broken their trust. Another said there is “no hope” for Starfield.
Many fans are hoping to see some sort of content update or a second DLC for Starfield, but Bethesda still hasn’t said exactly what it’s working on for the game. There have long been rumors that Starfield will be the next Xbox game to come to PlayStation 5. Although that wouldn’t be surprising, given that Microsoft has already brought previous exclusives such as Forza Horizon 5 and Microsoft Flight Simulator to PlayStation, there has been no word on whether Starfield will be joining them. Unofficially, however, there have been reports that claim the title will come to PS5 in Spring 2026 alongside another significant expansion.
If these rumors are true, there’s a chance that an announcement could be made during the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct event in January. Head of Microsoft Studios Matt Booty made the announcement last week, revealing that the event, which currently doesn’t have an exact date locked down, will showcase the numerous Xbox titles set to be released over the course of 2026. Although currently unconfirmed, titles such as Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Gears of War: E-Day are the strongest contenders to appear during the Direct showcase.
