Phantom Blade Zero May Come to Other Platforms in the Future
Phantom Blade Zero could get an Xbox release after its initial rollout, suggested by a small detail in its marketing. The Game Awards 2025 was full of news for PS5 console exclusives, but as has been the trend lately, some of these games may not stick to Sony’s system forever. While Phantom Blade Zero will only launch on PS5 and PC to start, there’s reason to believe it could jump to Xbox or even Switch 2 in the future.
Since being announced in 2023, S-GAME’s upcoming action RPG has garnered a lot of attention. It looked like an instant hit capable of scratching the same itch as Wuchang: Fallen Feathers and Black Myth: Wukong, and Phantom Blade Zero unveiling its official release date at The Game Awards has pushed hype even higher, confirming that fans have less than a year to wait before diving into the game. Now, as fans are going back to analyze the trailer, it looks like gamers may not need a PS5 or PC to enjoy the title after all.

An hour-long gameplay video of Phantom Blade Zero highlights the game’s fast-paced combat, intricate level design, and multiple core systems.
Phantom Blade Zero May Only Be a PS5 Console Exclusive for 12 Months
The release date trailer shows off more than just Phantom Blade Zero‘s FromSoftware aesthetic and fast-paced combat when looking at it closely. At the end of the announcement, there’s a blue screen with an image of a PS5 saying the game will be exclusive to the console. However, the fine print at the bottom of this graphic says it won’t be available on other platforms “until at least 12 months” after its PS5 and PC release. That note may not confirm anything, but it leaves the door open to an Xbox or Switch 2 port down the line. Phantom Blade Zero won’t come to these consoles anytime before 2027, but it’s not confining itself to just the PS5 forever.
S-GAME has not said if it will bring the game to other consoles yet, but it seems like a strong possibility in light of some broader trends. In 2024, the Phantom Blade Zero studio said it had not ruled out additional platform releases after word spread that a company insider reportedly made some anti-Xbox comments that made an Xbox port seem unlikely. S-GAME didn’t outright deny that an employee had said these things, but it did clarify that the alleged comment that “nobody needs” Xbox didn’t reflect its brand values or culture. Taking the time to address the issue and stating that the studio isn’t necessarily against a platform expansion certainly seems like S-GAME is at least keeping an Xbox or Switch 2 release on the table for now.
As for which consoles Phantom Blade Zero could come to, it’s difficult to say anything for certain, considering that the game isn’t confirmed to be coming to anything beyond PS5 and PC for the time being. However, should it jump ship to other consoles after the 12-month exclusivity period, Xbox seems like the most likely candidate. Sony and Xbox have made a habit of releasing their once-exclusives on each other’s systems lately, with the Silent Hill 2 remake even shadow dropping on Xbox in November 2025. Still, other games have been expanding to Switch 2 as well, so it’s too early to write anything off just yet.
For now, Phantom Blade Zero remains a PS5 console exclusive, at least for its first year. Fans should also stay tuned for more updates from S-GAME to know what to expect. A Phantom Blade Zero gameplay showcase will be held on January 21, and more information is sure to come between then and the September 9 release date.
