Black Ops 7 Is Already on Sale
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, one of the biggest releases of the year, is already being heavily discounted by some retailers, just in time for the Christmas period. The triple-A $70 game is currently on sale at retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop, with the former of the bunch discounting Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 by a massive 50 percent. While it’s not uncommon for games to go on sale shortly after release, it’s almost unheard of for a new Call of Duty title to be discounted so heavily just one month after launch.
After going strong for well over two decades now, the Call of Duty series appears to be going through a bit of a rough patch. Last year’s installment, Black Ops 6, was the first entry to launch day one on Xbox Game Pass, which made it the biggest launch in franchise history. Unfortunately, things went downhill pretty quickly after that, as continued controversies surrounding cosmetic items, events, and microtransactions appear to have had a serious impact on this year’s title, Black Ops 7. While the shooter received positive feedback from players during its open beta period, it has been suggested that sales are far lower than publisher Activision anticipated. And while console figures are unknown, Steam data shows that the launch of Black Ops 7 had little impact on Call of Duty‘s player count, with its highest peak being just over 100,000 concurrent players across Black Ops 6, Black Ops 7, and Warzone.
Rumor: Leak Suggests Call of Duty 2026 May Repeat Modern Warfare 2’s Mistake
A reliable leaker shares some potentially concerning insights about the 2026 Call of Duty game, which is believed to be Modern Warfare 4.
Official sales figures are unknown, but it is speculated that this has been a lackluster launch for Call of Duty, and there’s likely a variety of reasons for that. Although the removal of skill-based matchmaking for Black Ops 7 had fans absolutely thrilled, a year of backlash regarding unrealistic skins in Black Ops 6, as well as constant collaborations and in-your-face microtransactions, had left the community feeling burnt out. Plus, the series had some solid competition for the first time in years, with Battlefield 6 and ARC Raiders, two hugely successful shooters, both launching just a few weeks before Black Ops 7.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Is Already Being Heavily Discounted
In an attempt to draw players in, Activision has been regularly giving away tons of Double XP Tokens for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, as well as offering numerous free trials. Now it looks like the publisher is once again eager to get first-person shooter fans on board, as Black Ops 7 is being heavily discounted across numerous retailers for the Christmas period. As spotted by The Gamer, stores such as GameStop, Best Buy, Target, and Amazon have knocked up to 50 percent off this year’s entry. So, for those who are maybe on the fence about purchasing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, now could be the perfect opportunity. However, note that all of these discounts apply to the physical version of the game on all platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Discounts as heavy as this aren’t uncommon, but for Call of Duty, one of the biggest franchises of all time, to offer such a sale just one month after release is not something you see every day. This also isn’t the first sale the title has had since its release, as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was included in the Black Friday deals earlier this month. Both the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store had discounted the digital cross-gen edition of the game by 15 percent. This sale has now come to an end, which means anybody looking to purchase Black Ops 7 digitally will be paying full price.
Sudden deep discounts aren’t always a sign of desperation or failure, as ARC Raiders is also on sale at the moment. The massively successful extraction shooter was recently crowned as Multiplayer Game of the Year at the 2025 Game Awards, but has already received a 20% discount on the Epic Games Store. This sale applies to both the Standard and Deluxe editions of the game, bringing the price down to $31.99 USD and $47.99, respectively. Fans can make the most of the discount from now until January 8.
