Battlefield 6 Issues Official Statement on Winter Offensive Update

By newsgame

Battlefield 6 developer DICE has responded to the disastrous launch of the game’s Winter Offensive update, which was released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on December 9. The studio has promised to continue gathering information from the Battlefield 6 community and outlined its plans for the game’s next hotfix update, which will be released for Steam users on December 12 in order to promptly address one of the most critical problems brought on by this week’s 1.1.3.0 patch.

The highly anticipated Winter Offensive update for Battlefield 6 was part of the game’s Season 1 content, which marked the third and final patch for the season. At no additional no cost, fans were treated to a winter-themed version of Empire State, which features frozen streets and seasonal environmental visuals, a new Ice Climbing Axe Melee weapon, which can be unlocked via the Winter Offensive Bonus Path, and a new time-limited Multiplayer and Gauntlet mode, which is a themed event mode playable across Domination, Conquest, and Gauntlet mission variations on Ice Lock Empire State featuring the event-limited ‘Freeze’ mechanic.

ARC Raiders Player Count is Down 36.8%, But It’s Still Demolishing Battlefield 6

ARC Raiders experiences a player count drop of 36.8% from its all-time peak near launch, but it’s still way ahead of its competition.

While there is plenty of new content for players to check out thanks to update 1.1.3.0, it has unfortunately brought a plethora of different problems along with it. From a glitchy UI menu to hit registration issues, reports of various bugs came in quick and heavy after the latest Battlefield 6 update was released. But, undoubtedly the most prominent issue was the stuttering players began to experience, largely on the Steam version of the game. Players took to social media to showcase the stuttering while in-game, and it didn’t take long for DICE to respond by telling players to turn off their Steam friends list as temporary solution. Thankfully, an official fix is now on the way, as the studio releases a lengthy statement addressing the many issues caused by the December 9 update.

Battlefield 6 Responds to Winter Offensive Issues

In a new post on Twitter, developer DICE addressed the issues caused by update 1.1.3.0, noting that the studio has been reviewing all reports since the patch was released. “Several items have already been identified, are being addressed, or have been resolved. We are preparing to publish hotfixes to resolve a number of these issues,” DICE said, before revealing that a new update will be released exclusively on Steam tomorrow, December 12. The patch will apparently resolve the micro stuttering issues players have been facing and will also include improvements to the main menu and firing range. The same patch will then be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the EA App on December 15.

There are various other issues currently being investigated by DICE, but the studio says it’s going to take a little longer to release a hotfix for them. One of these problems is related to bot kill being tracked in player’s stats. “Earlier this year, we removed Bot kills from player stats but encountered a related issue that prevented us from removing deaths in the same way,” DICE said. The studio then explained how it has been forced to temporarily re-enable bot kills while it works on resolving and underlying bug. Also being investigating is instances of rubberbanding for some Battlefield 6 players on PC with CPUs near the minimum specs and running low graphics settings. These users may be seeingrubberbanding, hit-reg issues, or latency-like symptoms if the game can’t maintain the 60Hz simulation rate due to CPU load.

Finally, DICE says it has been reviewing feedback from the update surrounding other changes that were made. Numerous adjustments were made to Breakthrough in the latest Battlefield 6 update, including several layouts being updated to address attacker–defender win/loss imbalance and improve overall flow, vehicle balance, and capture-zone clarity across multiple maps. Fans were quick to highlight their concerns with these changes, and while no further adjustments have been revealed just yet, the studio has said player feedback continues to guide the direction of Breakthrough improvements and that more details will be shared as future adjustments take shape.
