Diablo 4 Season 11 Makes Fighting This 1 Boss Basically Worthless
The Season of Divine Intervention is about to descend upon Sanctuary, and Diablo 4 players will have to say goodbye to some of the best features of Season 10. While Diablo 4 Season 11 is bringing some major changes to features like combat, renown, and gear upgrading, it’s hard not to be a little disappointed that Chaos Armor and Chaos Perks will be gone after Season 10 ends. Getting swept up in the changes is one Diablo 4 boss, who while not getting a direct rework, will undoubtedly be affected for the worse in Season 11.
Despite Chaos Armor and Chaos Perks going by the wayside in Diablo 4 Season 11, some of the new features introduced in Season 10 are sticking around permanently. The rework of Infernal Hordes and its added boss Bartuc, Lord of Chaos, will still be available in Season 11. However, Bartuc’s main claim to fame will be no more, making him one boss players should avoid in the coming season.
Diablo 4 Players Have Little Reason to Fight Bartuc in Season 11
In a complete 180 from his role in Diablo 4 Season 10, Bartuc is going to be a boss with very few players actively farming him. Previously, Bartuc was a great source for accessing Season 10’s best resources, such as:
- Guaranteed Chaos Armor on Torment 3 and 4
- Unique Chaos Perks
- Scroll of Restoration
- Obducite
- Gold
Bartuc was added as an alternative boss to the standard Fell Council that players who complete every wave of the Infernal Hordes can face. However, he requires a hefty 666 Burning Aether to access, meaning players really need to optimize their Infernal Hordes run to have a shot at reaping his rewards.
Bartuc Won’t Drop Chaos Armor or Unique Chaos Perks Anymore
Without Chaos Armor or Chaos Perks in Diablo 4 Season 11, opting to fight Bartuc will be far less appealing. In Season 10, defeating Bartuc was the only way to obtain Unique Chaos Perks, meaning players wanting to create a meta Diablo 4 build would need to face him at least 4 times to unlock all the Unique Chaos Perks for their class. Farming Bartuc was also one of the best ways to earn Chaos Armor, since he was guaranteed to drop it on Torment 3 and 4 difficulty.
Blizzard has not announced if Bartuc will gain a new seasonal item drop in Season 11, but based on his Eternal Realm version, it seems like Bartuc will keep all of his same drops minus Chaos Armor and Perks.
Bartuc is a Far More Expensive Infernal Hordes Boss with a Worse Payout this Season
While Bartuc will still drop significant resources upon defeat, like Gold, Obducite, and standard Legendary and Unique gear, the 666 Burning Aether price doesn’t seem like a worthy trade-off without Chaos Armor or Perks to sweeten the deal. Accessing the Fell Council after an Infernal Hordes run is free, and the Aether players have collected can be spent on their reward chests instead for an equal if not greater quantity of these same resources. The only reason to choose Bartuc over the Fell Council in Diablo 4 Season 11 is for a Scroll of Restoration, which has new benefits under the change to Diablo 4‘s Temper system.
Scrolls of Restoration allow players to reset the Temper charges on an item so they can re-Temper it to their liking. Previously, an item’s Temper charges could only be restored once by a Scroll of Restoration, but Season 11 removes this limit. However, with Tempering now allowing players to choose their desired affix rather than leave it up to chance with a random one, Scrolls of Restoration may not be as necessary going forward, unless players decide they want to change their build at some point. Whether this makes a Scroll of Restoration worth the 666 Burning Aether it takes to challenge Bartuc is up to the player to decide, leaving the boss ultimately a shell of his Season 10 self.
