Epic Games Store Announces The Game Awards Giveaway for December 11
The Epic Games Store will be giving away at least one mystery game on December 11. The upcoming freebie will launch at a different time than the Epic Games Store’s usual giveaways as it’s meant to coincide with the 2025 edition of The Game Awards.
Between November 27 and December 4, Epic was giving away a dark sci-fi point-and-click adventure called Universe for Sale. That promotion has now concluded, having been replaced with two other freebies: The Darkside Detective and The Jackbox Party Pack 4.
Epic Games Store: A Comprehensive List Of Every Free Game It’s Had To Date
Here’s a list of all the games that have been made free on the Epic Games Store. You have until December 11 to get the current free games.
As soon as the Epic Games Store’s December 4 giveaway went live, the platform also announced its next promo, which will mark the return of its mystery game format on December 11. Under this model, weekly freebies remain undisclosed until the moment they become available to claim. One mystery title is currently listed as part of the upcoming giveaway on Epic’s website, with a placeholder thumbnail featuring The Game Awards logo, hinting that the freebie may be a TGA 2025 nominee or otherwise linked to the event. Based on Epic’s recent track record, it’s possible additional mystery games will be announced before the December 11 promotion officially kicks off.

Epic Games Store’s December 11 Giveaway Will Start Later Than Usual
The Epic Games Store’s weekly giveaways typically start at 11am ET. However, because this next one appears to be a cross-promotion, it will unsurprisingly coincide with the December 11 The Game Awards ceremony, with Epic listing it as launching at 5pm PT / 8pm ET, which comes out to 2am CET on December 12. That’s exactly 30 minutes after TGA 2025 is scheduled to begin. While Epic ran TGA-branded sales in the past, the December 11 promotion is set to mark its first-ever game giveaway that’s officially tied to Geoff Keighley’s annual show.
Epic Games Store’s December 4 Freebies Are Completely Unlike Each Other
While waiting for the TGA-themed giveaway, Epic Games Store users are able to claim The Jackbox Party Pack 4 and The Darkside Detective. The former is the first Jackbox title to be offered for free on the platform since the original game in the long-running series received a 100% discount in January 2019, making it one of the earliest EGS freebies, offered just a month after the storefront’s launch. The Jackbox Party Pack 4 includes five whimsical party games, with most of them designed for three or more players. The only exception is Fibbage 3, a wacky trivia bluffing game that can also be played in duos, with contestants trying to trick their peers into believing a made-up fact while simultaneously trying to separate other altered claims from true but utterly bizarre facts.
Conversely, The Darkside Detective is a fully single-player experience, one that continues Epic’s streak of weekly point-and-click adventure freebies for the second week. Developed by Spooky Doorway, the 2017 title combines elements of pop culture, science fiction, and horror into a distinctive experience that may appeal to fans of everything from buddy comedies to David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. Beneath its pixel art exterior is a collection of satirical mini-cases featuring a jaded detective looking into paranormal occurrences. The Darkside Detective holds a “Strong” rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 76 and more than two in three reviewers recommending it.
