Pokemon GO Well Armed Event Adds Global Challenges and a Debut Encounter

The Well Armed event kicks off on December 11 in Pokemon GO, adding new global challenges for players to work together on while also rewarding new bonuses and encounters. December is already shaping up to be a busy month for Pokemon GO players wiuth Niantic teasing plenty of content on the way.

While Niantic showcased a December 2025 roadmap of content for Pokemon GO, the studio has been very communicative with fans about what they can expect. This includes the plans for December’s Community Day, which follows the pattern from previous years bringing back Pokemon from each of the past 12 months. Over December 6 and 7, players will find a variety of Pokemon from previous Community Day events in 2025, including Totodile, Pawmi, Pikipek, Jagmo-o, and plenty more. Following that, Niantic has also revealed the first details about its Well Armed event.

Pokemon GO shares details about the final Community Day of 2025, including all the creatures and bonuses that participating trainers can get.

Pokemon GO Well Armed Event Start and End Times

  • December 11–December 16

Kicking off on December 11 at 10am local time, players can take part in new Global Challenges as part of the Well Armed event. Niantic reveals that players will need to work together to complete challenges that are available throughout the event, including completing Pokemon GO‘s Max Battles.

While Niantic didn’t provide any solid details or specifics on just how many Max Battles will need to be completed, doing so will unlock global bonuses for all players, such as increased candy as well as encountering Mienfoo and Jangmo-o in the wild. For those who want a bit more, there will be special Paid Timed Research and Web Store offers as well.

However, completing the challenges will also unlock the debut of the Tantrum Pokemon known as Clobbopus, and its evolved form Grapploct from Pokemon Sword and Shield. Lucky players may also find them in the wild or as Field Research encounters during the event. In order to evolve Clobbopus into Grapploct, players will need to save up 50 candy for the fighting-type Pokemon.

Outside the Global Challenge, the Well Armed event also brings other bonuses that won’t need to be unlocked. Specifically, players will earn double the candy for catching Pokemon, as well as have an increased chance to encounter shiny variants of Pokemon GO‘s Dynamax versions of Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. Event-themed Field Research tasks will also be available with unique rewards like TMs. Event-themed Pokemon will also be more available like Octillery, Poliwag, Machop, Makuhita, and more.
