Best Waystalker Ranged Build in Vermintide 2
The Waystalker class for Kerillian in Vermintide 2 specializes in dealing with high-priority targets. Not only is her special ability perfect for effortlessly taking down specialists like Assassins and Ratling Guns, but the Waystalker’s powerful bow attacks also make her very strong against heavy infantry like Marauders, Stormvermin, and Plague Monks.
A good Waystalker can easily keep the team alive by picking off the most dangerous enemies before they can cause any trouble. In this Vermintide 2 guide, we’ll be going over a particularly good Waystalker build that emphasizes ranged attacks for assassinating targets.

|
Kurnous’ Reward |
Killing a special or elite enemy with Trueshot Volley restores 30% ammunition. |
This passive skill setup is all about improving your ranged weapon capabilities by doubling your projectile count and significantly improving headshot damage. Blood Shot is great for a quick-swap playstyle, and while it does require you so land a killing blow with a melee hit, you don’t really have to think about it all that much while fighting. In most cases, Blood Shot will be primed for use for when a special/elite enemy shows up during a fight.
Carve is our Temporary Health perk of choice because we’ll be using a Glaive for our melee weapon (more on this later). You won’t be able to gain any Temporary Health when fighting isolated targets, but in cases like that , you won’t really need the extra health as long as you block or dodge properly.
Assassin is the preferred stagger skill for this build because it offers a flat headshot bonus for non-staggered enemies. This will let you one-shot some specials/elites even on Legendary and Cataclysm, provided you have sufficient damage from your weapons and trinkets.
Asrai Focus and Kurnous’ Reward make sure that you’ll always have ammo and Trueshot Volley for the times you need them. The latter essentially gives you unlimited arrows for your bow, assuming that you don’t blow all your ammo in a single fight.
This build won’t have the same boss-killing power as other classes in Vermintide 2, but it’s hard to deny how strong Trueshot Volley is for eliminating priority enemies during very chaotic moments.

The Glaive is the preferred weapon for this build because of its high damage, sweeping attacks, and ability to penetrate armor. It’s excellent against big crowds, and it can chop up Stormvermin and Chaos Warriors fairly easily, if you ever find the need to engage them in melee. The Greatsword is a good alternative due to its sweeping attacks, and while it can’t penetrate armor on regular hits, its charged attack makes it a very reliable weapon for scoring headshots.
As for your ranged weapon, the Longbow is the best pick for this build thanks to its high base damage. This will let you one-shot more targets and deal more upfront damage-per-hit compared to other ranged weapons.
Perks
Barkskin is pretty much essential to surviving the highest difficulty levels in Vermintide 2, and even more so if you’re trying to collect Grimoires. It’ll save keep you from getting downed by repeated hits, and it can save you from the long combos of enemy berserkers. You’ll still want to be careful around the big boys like Chaos Warriors, though, as you can still get downed in one hit by a strong attack.
Shrapnel and Concoction are mainly here to help against bosses. Chug any potion to get the effects of every other potion in the game, then throw a bomb (preferably an Incendiary Bomb) at the boss. For a short while, every attack you deal against them will deal significantly more damage, provided that the boss doesn’t get instantly killed by Kruber or Saltzpyre using a one-shot build.
A Glaive with Swift Slaying can sweep through huge hordes of weak enemies like a scythe through wheat. When fighting hordes in melee, attack twice, then block. This lets you spam the Glaive’s horizontal strikes, which are its most optimal moves against large groups.
Lastly, a Longbow with Conservative Shooter practically gives you infinite ammo when combined with Kurnous’ Reward. Just aim for the head (or leave your crosshair at head level during hectic moments), then fire away. At the very least, you’ll significantly increase your ammo efficiency.
Stats
Getting items with good stats is where buildcrafting in Vermintide 2 gets tricky. You’ll need to either get a random drop with the perfect stats, or craft one yourself.
Ideally, you’ll want to get a flat damage increase against Infantry on your bow so you can kill specials/elites in one or two shots. Note that enemies that count as Infantry are typically the ones that are unarmored, such as:
- Globardiers
- Gutter Runners
- Maulers
- Leeches
- Blightstormers
You’ll also want to have a Necklace that gives you some sort of survivability boost, such as:
- Damage Reduction vs Faction (Skaven, Chaos, etc)
- Max Health
- Block Cost Reduction
As for the rest, they’re flexible enough to fit your personal preferences. We do recommend either Attack Speed or Crit Chance for a general DPS boost, or you can go with Stamina Recovery so you can block and dodge more often.
