PC gamers will finally have an opportunity to experience an RPG inspired by the iconic Paper Mario series from Nintendo when Escape from Ever After launches on January 23, 2026. Boasting vibrant visuals, addictive gameplay, and genre-bending storytelling, Escape from Ever After is set to bring the best of its spiritual predecessor to life with new twists and turns with a planned release for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Escape from Ever After Brings the Paper Mario Experience to PC, PS5, and Xbox

Escape from Ever After drops players straight into a comedic fairy tale where storybook character Flynt Buckler finds his usual adventure of battling his arch nemesis, the evil dragon Tinder, interrupted by the oppressive powers of unmitigated capitalism. Flynt quickly learns that the real-world conglomerate Ever After Inc. has been using storybooks to hoard unlimited resources and cheap labor to reap the profits while slowly destroying every story it touches. Flynt and Tinder agree to team up and take down the executive overlords by climbing the corporate ladder and crumbling the profiteering empire from within. To do so, Flynt and Tinder must enter various storybook worlds to defeat enemies in turn-based combat gameplay, discover new items and badges, and gather new battle partners to conquer the challenges of both fantasy worlds and bland cubicles.

Like other role-playing adventure games, Escape from Ever After allows players to customize their travel party with different members, and each character offers a unique set of skills that can come in handy during combat and exploration. Players can also enjoy customizing their own office while partaking in water-cooler banter to blend in at Ever After Inc.
