Every Mirror Lake Monster in MH Stories 3

By newsgame

Mirror Lake is a sub-area in Azuria, and it is the home to six different monsters in Monster Hunter Stories 3 (not counting any variants). While the majority of the monsters here are fairly common, others are either extremely rare, or outright endangered, and if you want to restore their populations or simply get one of them for your own party in MH Stories 3, you’ll need to pull your weight and help restore the ecosystem.

Mirror Lake is, as its name suggests, the lake that surrounds Azuria Castle. It includes the little islands on the water as well as the cliffs and shoreline surrounding it. Some of these monsters can be found swimming or flying over Mirror Lake, while others are typically roaming the shores and neighboring fields.

Royal Ludroth, Yian Kut-Kun, and Plesioth are relatively abundant throughout the Mirror Lake, while the others must be restored through Habitat Restoration (except for Namielle, but more on this one later).

Lagiacruses are Leviathans that primarily deal Thunder damage. You can find a Lagiacrus Monstie Egg by driving away an Invasive Plesioth in a cave north of Mirror Lake. Dive into the water using a Royal Ludroth or Plesioth, then enter the waterway sandwiched between some cliffs to the northwest of Azuria Castle.

Like the Lagiacrus, Astaloses count as an endangered species, and in order to restore their population, you need to find and chase away an Invasive Seregios near the cave where you found the Invasive Plesioth. Instead of going inside the cave, mount a Flying Wyvern and ride the updrafts on the lake to reach the top of the tall cliff to the northwest. You’ll find the Invasive Seregios there, and once you force it to retreat, you’ll find the Astalos egg.

If neither of the Invasive monsters are in the places they ought to be, try waiting until nighttime.

Namielle

Namielle is an Elder Dragon that appears only during the night, and only after you’ve defeated other monsters around Mirror Lake. You’ll know that a Namielle has arrived when a cutscene plays and a swirling mass of lightning appears over the lake.

Elder Dragons are extremely powerful, especially during the early parts of MH Stories 3. Defeating Namielle at this point is going to be extremely tough, if not outright impossible without a very specific set of gear that’s strong enough to tank the monster’s attacks. Thankfully, you don’t necessarily need to beat the Namielle to get drops from it, and if you throw yourself at it enough times, you’ll eventually be able to craft Namielle gear.

Like other Monsties, getting an S rank on a successful Namielle fight may cause the monster to flee, leading you to a den with Namielle eggs.
