An Adventuring State of Mind Quest Guide for MH Stories 3
The Adventuring State of Mind quest in Monster Hunter Stories 3 tasks players with finding an Ivory Lagiacrus, a particularly elusive type of monster that’s already classified as endangered. To find one, players must release several Lagiacruses into the wilds of Azuria and find an Ivory Lagiacrus egg in a Monster Den. This is a fairly simple task, but since MH Stories 3 doesn’t tell players where they can find a Lagiacrus, many may be left wondering what to do once the quest begins.

How to Get a Lagiacrus in MH Stories 3
Players can find a Lagiacrus egg by driving away an Invasive Plesioth in Azuria’s Mirror Lake area. The Invasive Plesioth’s lair is inside a cave to the north. Get a normal Plesioth or Royal Ludroth to take you there, then carefully investigate the monster’s tracks so you can get clues on how to chase it off.
In case you miss the tracks, you need to break the Invasive Plesioth’s head when it starts filling itself with water. Breaking it will immediately cause it to retreat.
Once the Invasive Plesioth retreats to its den, interact with the preserved egg inside, then take it back home. Go to your camp, hatch the egg, and you’ll get your very first Lagiacrus. Don’t celebrate just yet — in order to restore the Lagiacrus population in Azuria, you’ll need to release it via the Habitat Restoration mechanic. Doing so will make Lagiacrus eggs appear in Monster Dens.
How to Get an Ivory Lagiacrus in MH Stories 3
To get the Ivory version of a Lagiacrus, you need to increase the species’ Habitat Restoration rank to A. You can do this by releasing multiple Lagiacruses in the same area (Azuria, in this case). Releasing five of them should do, but if not, just get more eggs.
You can get guaranteed Lagiacrus eggs by fighting one and forcing it to retreat. Complete the fight as best you can, then hit the Lagiacrus with a Paintball once its health gets low. With luck, it should retreat, leading you straight to a Monster Den with nests full of Lagiacrus eggs.
We’ve had the most luck finding Lagiacrus and Ivory Lagiacrus eggs while exploring Monster Dens near bodies of water in Azuria at night.
After getting an Ivory Lagiacrus, equip it in your line-up via the Stables, then go back to the NPC who gave you the quest. Speak to him again, and the quest will be complete.
Ivory Lagiacruses aren’t necessarily better than the normal variants, but they do offer a different set of skills, giving you the opportunity to adapt to situations that call for them.
