Sony’s Strategy Shift Has PC Players Begging for a Port of a Major PS5 Exclusive

By newsgame

A very vocal portion of the PC community is making it clear that they won’t be purchasing a PlayStation 5 console after Sony’s recent release strategy shift, and instead are calling for the company to continue porting its exclusives to the platform, starting with Housemarque’s next big release, Saros. A recent post from the Returnal developer showed off new gameplay from its upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive, but many of the replies are insisting that Saros also make its way to PC.

Late last month, reports began to emerge that Sony was switching up its release strategy when it comes to first-party titles, such as Marvel’s Wolverine, Saros, Ghost of Yotei, and many more. For years now, the studio has released many of its biggest PS5 titles on PC, usually around a year after they hit the console. This means smash-hit exclusives like Marvel’s Spider-Man, Death Stranding, God of War, and more have eventually been ported to PC, often with the help of Nixxes Software. However, it looks like that’s about to change, as poor sales figures have resulted in Sony pulling back on PC ports, with the company now no longer aiming to release its single-player titles on the platform moving forward.

New PS5 Game Looks Like Jak and Daxter Meets Stardew Valley

This new crafting adventure game for PS5 blends the visuals and platforming of Jak and Daxter with the life-sim mechanics of Stardew Valley.

PC Players Desperately Want a Saros Port

This change in strategy will, of course, make no difference to those who already own a PS5, but it’s massively disappointing for PC-only players. With 2026 shaping up to be a massive year for PlayStation, with exclusives such as Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine arriving in April and September, respectively, it’s a great time to own a PS5 or PS5 Pro. As expected, those who don’t own the console are already expressing their disappointment in Sony’s release strategy switch-up. Spotted by Push Square, a recent post from Housemarque, promoting new gameplay from Saros, has been flooded with responses by PC players begging for a port.

“Shame no PC port,” one user replies, while another says, “Launch this on PC and it’s a day one for me.” Others seem to be a little more demanding, with one stating, “Bring to PC or I riot.” Some are even outright stating that they will never buy a PlayStation console, but that they “really want to play [Saros].” Twitter user Taunky, reportedly speaking on behalf of “everyone,” says, “Nobody’s playing it until you release it on Xbox & PC.”

Following a delay to its release date, Saros will finally launch on PlayStation 5 next month. The PS5 exclusive takes Housemarque’s fast-paced gameplay experience, first set out in Returnal, and evolves it in an exciting way. Despite the similarities to Returnal, Saros is a brand-new IP from Housemarque and sees players take on the role of Arjun Devraj, a powerful Soltari Enforcer who will stop at nothing to find who he is looking for. Set on the planet Carcosa under an ominous eclipse, Saros differs from Returnal by incorporating permanent resources and progression, allowing players to come back stronger with every run.

It’s one of many PS5 exclusives set to release this year, with the next most anticipated launch arriving in September with Marvel’s Wolverine. After first being revealed all the way back in 2021, Insomniac’s next superhero game is nearly here. Although there were no new details shared during the most recent State of Play event last month, Insomniac has confirmed it intends to show more of Marvel’s Wolverine in the Spring. The huge PS5 exclusive will then release on September 19, 2026.

Sony’s surprising switch-up in its release strategy doesn’t just mean that new releases like Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine won’t be making their way to PC; it also means existing releases, like Ghost of Yotei, will likely forever remain a PS5 exclusive. The good news is that some ports in development are still planned to release, such as Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which will release on PC later this month. Kojima’s smash-hit sequel will launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 19, less than one year after it arrived on PS5.
