All Special Trades in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen

By newsgame

In Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen there are various NPCs that can offer special trades to players. These unique in-game trades can be accessed by taking the requested Pokemon to each NPC, and in return, players will receive some of the rarest species of Generation 1. Some of these Pokemon can be acquired earlier by fulfilling the conditions of the trades, and can be a real asset for players facing the Gym Challenges.

Other species are not so rare to find, but there are other benefits from having a traded Pokemon in your party, so they’re still worth the trouble. In this guide, players will find information on all the Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen in-game trade locations, which Pokemon they can get, and which species they need to give to the NPCs to get these Rare Pokemon.

Most of the In-game Trades in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen are species that can be captured by the trainers, though some of them, like Mr. Mime, Tangela, Farfetch’d, and Jynx, are extremely rare and difficult to find. Others, like Nidoran and Nidorino/Nidorina, are available for catching at a normal rate, although depending on the version, one of the two will have its spawn rates considerably reduced.

Still, trading Pokemon with an NPC has the same benefits as trading with a player. The Pokemon received will gain exp at an increased rate, but its nickname will remain unchanged no matter what players do. That is the rule of the game, so there’s nothing much to do about that.

Since this port for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t have a connection to Pokemon Home, this might be the only way many players can trade Pokemon in the game, at least until they manage to get another person to trade with. Nintendo has also confirmed that FireRed & LeafGreen won’t support internet connections or online trading.

Getting Alakazam, Gengar, Machamp, and Golem could be a bit complicated for newcomers, but the games should support in-person trade, so perhaps arranging a trade with friends will be the only method available to fill the Pokedex. So there you have it, those are the trades players can do with NPCs in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen.
