If You’re Buying a PS5 Pro for GTA 6, You Shouldn’t Wait for 2026
Assuming it meets its announced release date, Grand Theft Auto 6 will undoubtedly be the biggest new game release of next year. Based on what’s been shown so far, Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to be a massive open world experience with cutting-edge graphics and the kind of impeccable polish Rockstar is known for delivering. Fans have been waiting well over a decade for GTA 6, so when it finally drops, it’s understandable that they will want to play it on the best hardware possible.
When GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, it will be available for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Currently, the most powerful console on the market is the PS5 Pro, and it’s safe to assume that GTA 6 may very well be the game to drive more sales of Sony’s beefier console. One could wait until we’re closer to the GTA 6 release date to take the plunge on the PS5 Pro, but there is good reason to pull the trigger now instead of waiting.
GTA 6 Fans Think They Know When Trailer 3 Will Release
The Grand Theft Auto 6 community conjures up a wild new theory that they believe points to an exact release date for the game’s third trailer.
PS5 Pro Black Friday 2025 Deal
Sony’s Black Friday 2025 offerings are now live, and one of the most exciting deals is $100 off select PlayStation hardware. A PS5 Digital Edition bundle that comes with Fortnite‘s Flowering Chaos content is retailing for $399.99, while a standard 1 TB PS5 console with the same Fortnite content is priced at $449.99. PS5 bundles without Fortnite will have $100 knocked off their asking price, the powerful PS5 Pro included. The PS5 Pro price was increased earlier this year from $700 to $750, so the Black Friday discount will bring it below its original $700 asking price to $650. Those that have been holding out on buying a PS5 Pro might not find a better deal for a long time, and there’s no guarantee the deal will be back next year when GTA 6 launches.
Where to Buy a PS5 Pro for $100 Off? (While Supplies Last)
PlayStation fans looking to upgrade for GTA 6 have a couple of caveats to consider. For one, the PS5 Pro Black Friday deal availability may vary by retailer, so the $100 off price is not necessarily guaranteed, depending on where you shop. Secondly, a specific end date for the PlayStation Black Friday deals has not been confirmed. We know that the sale starts on November 21, a full week before the real Black Friday on November 28, but it may just be while supplies last. There’s also the risk that tariffs and the global economy in general could push the PS5 Pro price up even higher than it already is, and so fans should keep that possibility in mind as well. Regardless, anyone wanting to get a PS5 Pro this year should make sure to jump on the deal as soon as possible to be on the safe side.
Potential GTA 6 PS5 Pro Upgrades
Potential GTA 6 PS5 Pro enhancements have yet to be officially announced. The main upgrade PS5 Pro offers players is the ability to play games at a level associated with “Quality” mode in most titles while still maintaining 60 frames per second — something usually reserved for “Performance” mode at the cost of resolution when playing on a base PS5. Considering this, GTA 6 on PS5 Pro may very well be the best way to experience the game when it launches next year. There will be no GTA 6 PC port at launch, and so, in theory, to experience the game at peak resolution and performance, one will need a PS5 Pro handy.
That being said, there have been some games that have launched with performance issues on PS5 Pro. These problems have been ironed out with post-launch updates, but it is certainly something to consider. We won’t know for sure how GTA 6 runs on PS5 Pro until the game finally launches to the masses. But even if there are issues at first, eventually the PS5 Pro will be the best way to play GTA 6 and get full value out of the game until the inevitable PC port drops.
When is GTA 6 Coming Out?
Grand Theft Auto 6 was originally expected to launch in 2025, but the game’s release date was ultimately moved back to May 26, 2026. Unfortunately for fans that have been waiting ages for Rockstar’s next open world epic, the GTA 6 release date was delayed yet again, setting its launch for November 19, 2026. It’s entirely possible that the GTA 6 release date will be delayed yet again and push the game into 2027, but for now, fans can circle November 19 on their calendars.
Assuming the GTA 6 November 19 release date is a lock, fans can expect Rockstar to ramp up its marketing efforts in the months ahead. Only two GTA 6 trailers have been released so far, and Trailer 3 is nowhere in sight. We don’t know when the next trailer will drop, and we also don’t know what it will entail. Trailer 1 established the Vice City setting and one of the main characters, while Trailer 2 was more story-focused. Perhaps Trailer 3 will give players a proper look at gameplay, or maybe it will detail the game’s inevitable online multiplayer mode. Until Rockstar itself decides to share more info, all we can do is guess.
