All Rumors and Leaks for Pokemon Day 2026
Pokemon officially turns 30 on February 27, as the original Pokemon Red and Green were released in Japan on that date in 1996. The franchise has obviously come a long way since then, spanning console generations, technical evolutions, and in-franchise generations. Heading into this anniversary, fans are expecting The Pokemon Company and Game Freak to reveal the next generation of Pokemon games, and lots of rumors are swirling around this anniversary.
Already, The Pokemon Company has revealed a few special merchandise products to celebrate the anniversary and, surprisingly, confirmed that Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are heading to the Nintendo Switch right after the Pokemon Presents on February 27.
The Pokemon Presents livestream—where the companies are expected to drop a plethora of game updates, media reveals, community events, and so forth—is scheduled for Friday, February 27, at 6 am PT/9 am ET. It is confirmed to last for 25 minutes, making it one of the longest Pokemon Presents in recent years, and it’ll seemingly span everything from classic Pokemon games to Pokemon Gen 10. The livestream can be found on official Pokemon Channels via YouTube and Twitch.
While The Pokemon Company and Game Freak are already pretty giving for the anniversary, it’s obviously holding back a lot. For context, the Pokemon Presents that revealed Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to the world was only 14 minutes. There have been plenty of rumors and leaks for Pokemon Day 2026, and ahead of then, here’s what’s worth paying attention to.
The Biggest Reveal is Pokemon Wind and Wave (Gen 10)
Unless there is some massive, revolutionary surprise, the biggest leaked reveal is Pokemon Generation 10, aka Pokemon Wind and Wave. It’s worth noting that the Gen 9 Pokemon Presents kept it really brief, showcasing the starters and little more, and the same may happen for Pokemon Wind and Wave. Other than it being leaked to be there, nothing else is currently known about Pokemon Wind and Wave‘s exact plans for the event. It is much longer than the Gen 9 Pokemon Presents, meaning fans may get a deeper look or that there will be more there. Either way, the Pokemon Presents will kick off several months of marketing ahead of the new games’ release, likely in Fall/Winter 2026.
While not much else has leaked about Pokemon Wind and Wave on that end, the same cannot be said for the new Pokemon games themselves. The Teraleak 2 in late 2025 revealed several key details about the games, with more coming out thereafter. For example, a recent leak showcased a model of the entire Pokemon Wind and Wave region. Game details, like the return of the Dive feature, have also leaked.
Everything mentioned here is leaks of early details, meaning they could have changed by now or ahead of release. Take everything with a grain of salt. That said, the Teraleaks are about as reliable as they come.
- The box legendaries are described as a “wind grandpa” and “wave grandma”
- A Pokemon hotel will serve as a player hub
- The new region is inspired by Southeast Asia
- Starters will be obtained during a traffic jam, in which the protagonist is asked to capture the Pokemon
- Pokemon Gen 10 may have a scooter or expansive ride features, though some leaks suggest this has been scaled back from its original vision
- The Gen 10 Battle Gimmick is related to the weather
- Pokemon Wind and Wave may have procedurally generated content tied to a special Pokemon or special areas in the games.
- The procedurally generated Pokemon has been referred to as a “Seed Pokemon” needed to face legendaries.
- There will be raid battles, social hubs, and shareable maps.
- Pokemon Wind and Wave will redesign several new models, fitting given that Gen 10 is a big step forward from a numbered gen standpoint.
-
Pokemon Gyms and Titan Pokemon are intermixed, with a total of 18 challenges spread across the region.
- Gyms: Grass, Poison, Flying, Fighting, Dark, Normal, Steel, and Fairy
- Titans: Fire, Psychic, Ice, Ground, Rock, Ghost
- Elite Four: Electric, Water, Bug, and Dragon
- Players are able to challenge the Gen 10 final boss right away and get one ending, should they be so skilled.
- Pokemon Wind and Wave will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Will Get a Little Love
Riddler Khu, a known and reliable leaker within the Pokemon community, also hinted at Pokemon Scarlet and Violet getting a little love on Pokemon Day. Namely, there will be a content giveaway for the games involving two specific Pokemon only referred to by Pokedex number: 1017 and 1024. These correspond with Ogerpon and Terapagos, and while the exact nature of the event/giveaway is unknown, fans can reasonably expect this news and event to begin at the Pokemon presents.
Other Rumored Pokemon Reveals
25-minutes is a lot of time to fill, and there are a lot of Pokemon games and products to consider. Fans can expect pretty much every game to get a little time at the showcase, but if there was one to receive extra attention, it’s likely Pokemon Pokopia (releasing in March). The proximity can’t be ignored. Beyond the “kind of obvious” rumors below, the companies may come with some special surprises. After all, a franchise only turns 30 once, and many video game franchises don’t make it that long with as much acclaim as Pokemon.
- Pokemon Sleep updates and new content.
- Pokemon Unite news (updates, expansions, or new modes).
- Potential reveals tied to Pokemon TCG sets (new expansions).
- Rumored spotlight on Pokemon XD / Pokemon Colosseum (possibly NSO/NSO+ re-release).
- Pokémon Champions updates or release window info.
- New info or trailer for Pokemon Pokopia
- News on other mobile/ongoing titles
