Diablo 2: Resurrected Endgame – Top Classes for Endgame Challenges

By newsgame

Diablo 2: Resurrected has finally been released so players can jump back into the classic action RPG to slay hordes of demons and collect all of the loot they can dream of. The game has been well received, with newcomers and fans of the series alike coming together to go through the game’s story to try and stop the titular Diablo from destroying the mortal realm as one of seven distinct classes.

However, after Diablo 2: Resurrected‘s story is completed, players can jump into the game’s endgame, which adds tons of replay value to this timeless classic. The remaster’s endgame offers players both PvE and PvP content to chase new gear, but some players who want to get invested in the endgame may have a hard time picking which of the game’s classes to level up and build. Every class in Diablo 2 has builds that can succeed during the endgame, but there are three particular classes featuring builds that make sure players will be able to conquer Diablo 2: Resurrected‘s hardest difficulty and most punishing challenges.

Updated on February 17th, 2026 by Luke Simons: Those readying themselves for the new challenges available in Reign of The Warlock (Diablo 2: Resurrected update 3.0) know that this content drop is an absolute game-changer. Not only did it add several new Runewords and Legendary Items (as well as two new Item Sets), but it dropped the first new class in 25 years: The Warlock. If players want to know how the Warlock runs in the End-game of Diablo 2, then they better check out how it places among the Best classes to run the highest level of difficulty.

Warlock

The Warlock is not a re-version of the Necromancer, but a whole new class featuring brutal AoE damage, single and multi-target nukes, and tremendous crowd control effects that will render even the Prime Evil vulnerable for various precious seconds. The Warlock is a master demonologist, capable of wielding destructive magic, eldritch and telekinetic forces, and blood-churning curses.

He can basically dominate and control all demon-type enemies in the game (except for the Prime Evils and Lesser Evils, of course), binding them to his will and siphoning their force to wield it as his own. He can also summon his own demon servants (Goatmant, Tainted, Defiler) all of them with unique abilities that will greatly enhance the Warlock’s survivability and damage. But perhaps, its most broken aspect, is its ability to wield Two-handed weapons in a single hand, while also retaining the capability of using a shield or Grimoire. This grants the Warlock nearly an unfair advantage in both PvP and PvE builds, and sets it one level apart from all other end-game classes in the game.

Paladin

It’s not too simple to suggest that the Paladin is the best late-game class in Diablo 2: Resurrected without much argument. This widespread recognition has popped up for one sole reason: the Hammerdin build can take care of any monster in any quantity.

Diablo 2: Resurrected Every Class, Ranked

Diablo 2: Resurrected is bringing back a classic debate over which class reigns supreme. Here’s the complete breakdown of where they stand so far.

No class has the ability to tank damage against the game’s most elite bosses. It’s all about dishing out damage before attackers can get in close. Since the Paladin can cover his entire light radius with Blessed Hammers, nothing can survive up close after he gets fully geared. More so with the newest Runewords that can greatly empower this already broken build.

Sorceress

Among the top-tier players who love Diablo 2: Resurrected, they’ll all have one character in common. Why does everybody have a perfect lightning sorceress build if they want to show the community they are serious about the game? The answer is simple: Efficiency, great farming, and the best carrier potential in co-op.

Frankly, it’s the fastest clearing class in the game after she gets the gear she needs. Since the endgame means farming gear and runes, it stands to reason that the class that does that most efficiently is also the best. The community can disagree about their favorite class, but there is certainly a consensus about who takes down the endgame content quickest. Although with the recent addition of the Warlock, the Sorceress title as the fastest clearer in D2R might be at risk of being overtaken (that is, if Ring of Fire/Echoing Strike Warlock Builds are not corrected soon).

Necromancer

When it comes to cutting through immunities, nobody can do what the Necromancer does. Only one other class can partially cut into immunities (the Paladin). The Necromancer is the sole class that can completely delete immunities, both magical and physical. And in terms of incredibly broken builds, the Necromancer also excels as a Summoner (with its Unstoppable Army build), ranking above the Druid in power.

As if that weren’t enough, the Corpse Explosion spell deals damage based on the monster’s overall health, meaning that in higher levels of difficulty where monsters are ridiculous damage sponges, their HP pool being bigger is actually an asset for the Necro. The stronger they are, the harder the blow will be when their corpses explode. So, the Necromancer has no issue adjusting when the difficulty scales up, as the biggest hurdles like immunities and stronger monsters hardly bother him. On that note, it does require a certain amount of skill to master, but his learning curve is not as steep as that of other classes.
