All Bachelors & Bachelorettes In Starsand Island

Starsand Island has plenty of characters players can bond with, though their locations are scattered throughout the island.

How to Get Hardwood in Starsand Island

You get Hardwood in Starsand Island by chopping down large trees like Banyans with your axe. However, you can only cut down Banyan trees with your upgraded Impact Axe. Plenty of these trees can be found right outside your starting home — they’re the bigger, darker trees surrounding the area. If you’ve chopped these all down and are waiting for the Banyans to respawn, then you can go explore the rest of the island in search of more.

The Moonlit Forest is another great place to find Banyan trees for you to chop down, but these trees also require you to use the Impact Axe. You’ll naturally get the blueprints to make this axe while on the ‘A Warm Glow’ main quest for Zerine, which makes you pick up the ‘Warm Light’ Request. So, you might want to prioritize the Crafting profession at the beginning of the game to start collecting Hardwood as soon as possible.

You can’t chop down trees in public areas used for decoration, such as if they are placed right beside a shop or landmark.

What is Hardwood Used For in Starsand Island?

Raw Hardwood is used to craft many items, such as Warming Sachet in Starsand Island, the Ore Analyzer, and home decor items, but you also need to use Hardwood at the Cutter in order to get Hardwood Planks. These Hardwood Planks are then used to craft more advanced items like better storage boxes, the Plume Bow, and the Geocaligraphy Brush.

So as you can see, Hardwood — just like Softwood — is an essential crafting ingredient to stock up on. But as it’s tougher to get than Softwood, we recommend cutting down any Banyan trees that you see as soon as you can, to keep a reserve of Hardwood in your storage boxes in Starsand Island.

Don’t worry about running out of Hardwood, as Banyan trees respawn over the course of a few in-game days.
