How to Find Sodium Nitrate in No Man’s Sky
Sodium Nitrate, often depicted as Na+, is one of many resources in No Man’s Sky. It is used to craft and charge technologies, such as shields, armor, large refiners, and much more. It can also be refined to produce other resources, such as Dioxite, Marrow Bulbs, and Warp Cells. This guide will show players where to find Sodium Nitrate in No Man’s Sky, and how to refine it.

How To Get Sodium Nitrate In No Man’s Sky
Where To Find Sodium Nitrate Crystals
Unlike some other resources, such as Paraffinium in No Man’s Sky, there are no large deposits of Sodium Nitrate. However, this also means that it can be found on the surface of every single planet, in the form of orange/yellow crystals.
To find these at a distance, use the scanner (C) and look for the Na+ symbol. You can then use an Advanced Mining Laser to mine these crystals. To do so, use G to toggle between the tools of your Multi-Tool and hold LMB to mine.
You’ll likely find lots of Sodium (Na), but Sodium Nitrate (Na+) is much rarer, and you may need to explore for a while. Gather the Sodium anyway, as it can be refined into Sodium Nitrate.
Purchasing Sodium Nitrate
As with most resources in No Man’s Sky, it’s possible to purchase Sodium Nitrate from Galactic Trade Terminals or random ship captains encountered. Trade Terminals can be found on the first floor of Space Stations, opposite the large teleporter.
However, each Trade Terminal sells different products at different times. If Sodium Nitrate isn’t there, try jumping to another Solar System and see if its Space Station has any.
Sodium Nitrate roughly costs:

How To Refine Sodium Nitrate
There are many ways to refine resources to produce Sodium Nitrate, and often Sodium itself can be used. For those at the start of their journey with only a single-input Portable Refiner, they will likely have to use the recipe of 2 Sodium to make 1 Sodium Nitrate, as most other recipes require double-input refiners.
Sodium can be found fairly easily by scanning with C on the surface of the planet. Carbon or Condensed Carbon is also required to fuel refiners.
