How to Expand Farm in Starsand Island

At the start of Starsand Island, players receive a small farm in the Hopeland area, complete with a tiny cottage at its center. This plot is enough to launch a modest farming or crafting venture. However, as players’ skills improve and their collection of tools and devices grows, Hopeland can start to feel too small to support their ambitions. That’s when expanding the property by purchasing additional land becomes appealing.

Starsand Island: Farming Profession Guide

With Farming being one of five professions in-game, learn how to go from rookie to an Expert Farmer in this guide for Starsand Island.

The catch is that early in Starsand Island, farm expansion isn’t available. Players must work hard and earn the trust of the people in Starsand Town before they can unlock the ability to buy nearby plots. If that sounds confusing, keep reading—this guide covers everything you need to know about growing your farm.

To expand their farm, players need to open their phone (Tab on PC, Y on Xbox) and navigate to the “Buy Land” section. From there, they can select the farm plot they want to unlock. In Starsand Island‘s Early-Access version, the main farm has eight purchasable plots, each costing 15,000 Coints. Additionally, players can unlock three extra locations, Cloudrest Lake, Windflute Island, and the Blue Beach, to further grow their farming operations.

The Buy Land feature isn’t available by default. Players must complete four community quests (detailed below) to unlock it.

How to Unlock the ‘Buy Land’ Feature

To expand the farm and purchase land, players must complete four missions in the Island Life app and reach the “Island Pro” level. Here’s how:

Reach Apprentice level in any profession. Speak with any mentor (Zerine, Graminova, Pastelle, Delphin, or Zephyria) and agree to become their student. Then complete the initial tasks they assign to achieve Apprentice status.
Place six furniture items in the house. Furniture can be bought from Lex Woodworks and placed using build mode (LB + right on the D-pad for controllers, C on the keyboard).
Collect 2,000 Coins and meet ten Islanders. Sell excess items at vendors and interact with Starsand Island NPCs marked on the map to complete this task.
Reach Junior level in any profession and complete five requests from the Community Center bulletin board. (Self-explanatory)

How to Purchase Island, Lake, and Beach Plots

By completing four additional Island Life tasks and reaching the Home Builder level, players can unlock access to Cloudrest Lake, located north of Starsand Town. Reaching Home Builder also requires expanding the starting farm six times.

Next, players can continue completing Island Life tasks to reach the Bright Star level and unlock the Blue Beach plot. To reach this level, Cloudrest Lake access must be purchased first.

Finally, completing all Island Life tasks and achieving the Island Legend level unlocks the Windflute Island plots. Before accessing this land, players must have built ten stations and purchased the Blue Beach plots.

Are Farm Expansions Worth It?

Buying all eight additional plots for the starting farm costs 120,000 Coins, a fair investment given the potential returns from the extra land. However, unlocking the other three locations, the lake, island, and beach, is best postponed until players have fully automated their farm or established a steady income through other professions.
