Iron is one of the most important crafting materials in Starsand Island, and it’s a bit harder to find than common ores like Copper. Fortunately, the game has several locations where Iron Ore spawns are nearly guaranteed, making farming much less tedious. That said, new players should keep in mind that harvesting Iron requires a higher-level pickaxe.

How to Get Iron Ore

To break Iron Ore, players first need to upgrade their pickaxe to the Impulse version. This requires completing several tasks as a Crafting student for Zerine until reaching the Apprentice Crafter rank. After that, the blueprint for the Impulse Pickaxe can be purchased from the General Store and crafted at a Worktable.

Iron Ore can be found in Dreamfall Garden, near Crystalith Hideout, and at Azure Bay in Moonlit Forest. These areas aren’t unlocked by default and may require completing simple objectives, like repairing a broken path or breaking a wall.

While Iron can appear in other locations, these spots offer the best chances of finding multiple ores. Keep in mind that it might take a couple of in-game days for collected Iron Ore to respawn.

How to Produce Iron

Currently, there’s no guaranteed way to produce Iron at home. However, the Ore Analyzer may yield Iron when processing common or uncommon Ore Chunks. Iron can also appear in treasure chests or be given by Starsand Island NPCs as rewards for completing requests and missions.

What to Do with Iron Ore

The best use for Iron Ore is crafting Iron Ingots. These are essential materials in Starsand Island and are required for many early-game missions. Iron Ingots are also needed to create Iron Sheets, another important crafting resource.
