Hytale Mod Adds in Stardew Valley Fishing

By newsgame

A new Hytale mod has given the game’s fishing feature a Stardew Valley-inspired overhaul, making it play very similar to the mechanics featured in ConcernedApe’s popular life simulator. Although Hytale already has a fishing feature, this mod takes it to another level.

After an eventful development period spanning over a decade, Hytale was finally released in early access in January 2026. The game was canceled back in June 2025 by Riot Games, before being repurchased and revived by original creator Simon Collins-Laflamme with Hypixel Studios. Its release after all this time is pretty miraculous, and it received a ton of praise at launch. It’s far from the finished product, but there’s enough potential to suggest that Hytale is well worth gamers keeping on their radar. Following its release, positive word of mouth meant that Hytale sold enough copies to fund the next few years of development, a positive sign for its future.

Hytale Already Has Me Missing Minecraft’s Most Iconic Block

Transitioning from Minecraft to Hytale has been fairly smooth as a longtime fan, but there is one block absent from Hytale that I already miss.

Hytale Mod Adds Stardew Valley-Style Fishing

Over on Reddit, user Falc0rNe showed off footage from their awesome Hytale fishing mod, which transforms the game’s existing mechanic into the one found in Stardew Valley. Players can cast their rod, and reel it in when a fish bites on the line. A progress bar appears, which only goes up when the player keeps the fish within the moving green bar. When the fish is caught, a visual appears showing the name of the fish, its size, and tier. Not only does this work exactly like Stardew Valley‘s version of the mechanic, but it’s also a much more active way of having fishing in Hytale. Gamers in the thread were impressed, with one user asking if Falc0rNe plans to release the mod publicly. At the time of writing, the creator hasn’t responded, but hopefully the mod will be released to the public when it’s finished.

It’s worth noting that Hytale already has a fishing mechanic, which involves players placing traps in bodies of water to catch passing fish. These traps activate after a period of time, but it can take upwards of 40 minutes. While this is technically a way for players to catch fish in the game, it’s not an active fishing activity that can keep gamers busy for an extended period of time. Whether this new mod is an improvement over that will come down to personal preference based on what exactly specific players want from fishing in Hytale.

Hytale has only been in early access for just over a month, but the modding scene is already one of the most impressive for any title out there. The base game was developed with the mantra of “by modders, for modders,” and that has been immediately clear with some of the early Hytale mods. There was even one recent Hytale mod that added MMO-style dungeons to the game. What players are seeing right now is just the tip of the iceberg of the game’s modding potential. As modders get even more comfortable with the inner workings of Hytale, it’s likely that gamers will see increasingly ambitious mods releasing for the game in the future.

Although Hytale has already been a huge success for Hypixel Studios, the developer isn’t resting on its laurels. There have already been several updates adding new content to the game, and Hypixel has signaled its intent to speed up update production for Hytale. The game is already in a great state, and it’s poised to get even better thanks to frequent content and a dedicated modding community.
