With the push toward a new narrative focusing on the conflict with Talon, Overwatch has received the Crimson Wolf skin for character weapons, which features their rival organization’s signature crimson color scheme. Crimson Wolf joins the game’s selection of Competitive weapon skins, giving players an extra option to complete their desired looks while giving everyone an incentive to continue playing ranked Overwatch games. In this guide, we’ll go over how you can get this skin for yourself.

As with previous yearly Competitive skin rewards, Crimson Wolf must be purchased in-game using 3,000 Competitive Points. You can get these points by playing Competitive games in either the regular game mode or Stadium. Since the Crimson Wolf skin was introduced during the first season during the start of the Reign of Talon year, any of the Competitive points you’ve accumulated in previous seasons can’t be used to buy this skin.

Do note that any Crimson Wolf skin variant you purchase is exclusive for that specific weapon only. If you want more than one Crimson Wolf skin, you’ll have to get an extra 3,000 Competitive Points.

Crimson Wolf gives your weapons a semi-transparent look, replacing its main texture with a crimson one with a static graphic “inside” of it.

You can earn 5-10 Competitive Points per Competitive match depending on whether you win or score a draw. The per-win value rises to 20 if you win in a Stadium match. In order to unlock the Competitive Stadium playlist, you need to win 10 regular Stadium matches first.

Where to Find Crimson Wolf Skin

Go to the Customize menu for any hero, then scroll to the Weapon Variants tab at the very bottom of the list of icons to the left. You’ll find the Crimson Wolf skin there along with any other Competitive-exclusive skin from any of the previous Overwatch Competitive Years.

This is not to be confused with Doomfist’s Crimson Wolf character skin. To get that, you need to reach Diamond during the Reign of Talon Competitive Year (i.e. Seasons 1–3).

What are Legacy Competitive Points?

Unlike normal points, these can only be used to purchase skins that were released during previous seasons. At the end of a Competitive Year in Overwatch, any Competitive Points you have on your account will automatically get converted into Legacy Competitive Points, giving you a chance to purchase any other skin you may have missed in the past.
