Sudama Soul Cores are required to gain access to one of the most useful early-game Onmyo Magic Talismans in Nioh 3, Thunderstorm Shot, but getting them to drop can be a bit tricky. Unlike regular Yokai Soul Cores that have a chance to drop by defeating those Yokai in battle, Sudama Soul Cores can only be obtained using currency.

Sudama Soul Core Location
Sudama Soul Core can be obtained as a byproduct of exchanging Yokai Teardrops at a Sudama Merchant’s shop in Nioh 3. Sudama are the small, purple-skinned, red-eyed creatures with skull masks that sell various useful items in the game.
The most accessible Sudama Merchant in the game is the one found inside the Eternal Rift, the hub area that unlocks after you defeat Jakotsu-Baba in the Crucible in the first main mission of the game.
Sudama Merchants have three tabs: Buy, where you use Gold to purchase items; Exchange, where you use Yokai Teardrops to purchase items; and Sell, where you get Gold for selling items. Sudama Soul Cores can only drop for transactions made in the “Exchange” tab; buying or selling using Gold does not yield this item, no matter how much currency you spend.

Every time you purchase an item in the “Exchange” tab using Yokai Teardrops, there is a chance a Sudama Soul Core will drop as well. After a Sudama Soul Core drops once from this Sudama, it will appear in its Exchange shop as a purchasable item. You will be able to purchase Yellow rarity Sudama Soul Cores for 3 Yokai Teardrops each, and Common rarity Sudama Soul Cores for 2 Yokai Teardrops each. These Soul Cores will have limited availability but are restocked regularly. |

Every Sudama you find outside the Eternal Rift, in the overworld maps, will have a few one-time-only items for sale in the “Exchange” tab. When you clear out the shop’s entire supply, a single Sudama Soul Core will drop with a 100% guarantee. This method is non-repeatable since these items do not restock. |
